Nguyen Hai Long continues to be a thorn in Manchester United's side.

This time he chances his arm from range and it's deflected behind for a corner.

It's a strange atmosphere in the Bukit Jalil National Stadium with a similar roar of anticipation and excitement when the ball gets in and around either box.

These fans just want goals today.

Harry Maguire goes down in the box as a corner delivered by Jack Moorhouse flies over his head.

The United skipper would likely have chased the referee to complain if this was a competitive game. Just a wry smile, though.

Manchester United are struggling to breakdown the back-five of the ASEAN All-Stars.

They go wide to the left with Patrick Dorgu who finds Kobbie Mainoo but the midfielder is crowded out in the box.

Yaya Dukuly does win the free-kick this time, albeit a soft one.

It's a good 30 yards from goal and Nguyen Hai Long fires well over the bar.

    Very ambitious.

    Like it.

This game might be meaningless but Adelaide United - and Australia Under-23 midfielder Yaya Dukuly slammed his hand in frustration at not getting a free-kick just then.

This game is a chance for the ASEAN players to showcase themselves fo a global audience in a way they wouldn't get chance to normally.

Vietnam midfielder Nguyen Hai Long has a bit about him.

The 24-year-old glides past Ayden Heaven and then shows strength to hold off the Manchester United defender before the move eventually breaks down in the box.

Controlled possession from the visitors so far - they'll need to retain as much of the ball as possible in these very warm conditions.

Patrick Dorgu meets a cross at the far post but his header lacks power.

There are a lot of dignitaries in Kuala Lumpur tonight.

There is a conference of all the South Asian countries taking place in Malaysia and it was expected a lot of them would be at the game tonight.

    Off we go.

It's 20:45 in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia and 31 degrees.

Just what you need after a demanding domestic season.

There are a lot of empty seats at the 87,411-seater Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

Sergio Aguero wears the captain's armband for the ASEAN All-Stars.

    Not that one.

It's Sergio Fabian Ezequiel Aguero - a 31-year-old Malaysia international.

Either way, the sheer name might have some Manchester United players trembling at the knees.

Manchester United signed off the Premier League season with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa to halt a three-game losing streak.

They haven't won back-to-back games since March - will they correct that record (albeit in friendly circumstances) today?

The Manchester United fans behind the goal were making plenty of noise when the goalkeepers came out to warm-up.

They chanted 'Onana, Onana' as the Cameroon goalkeeper took his place.

Onana has been linked with a summer move to the Saudi Pro-League but I get the impression United expect him to stay at the club.

The ASEAN All-Stars were founded in 2014 by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF).

There are 12 nations within the AFF - Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The All-Stars team is made up of Southeast Asia internationals and selected players from the regional leagues.

Erik ten Hag stripped Harry Maguire of the captaincy at a point when it appeared the defender would be leaving Manchester United.

But Maguire stuck it out and lasted longer at Old Trafford than the Dutchman.

I am not sure this is the setting he wanted to get the armband back but he has anyway.

After a long, arduous and disappointing 2024-25 campaign, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has taken 32 of his players to Asia for the two post-season matches.

Manchester United travel to Hong Kong to face their national team on Friday (13:00 BST).

It is thought the trip will generate about $10m (£7.8m) for the club, but comes at the end of a season where United have played 60 games in all competitions.

Amorim has previously defended the post-season trip, calling it a "small sacrifice" which allows the club to "make contact with our fans around the world".

Meanwhile, Harry Maguire said "we don't have any right to argue against it after the performances we have put on."

Manchester United finished the season 15th in the Premier League and also lost the Europa League final - meaning they missed out on European football next season for only the second time since 1990, leaving a £100m hole in the club's finances.

The Manchester United team was read out to the crowd inside the stadium just now.

By far the biggest cheer was for captain Bruno Fernandes, who is on the bench this evening.

Ruben Amorim was asked - again - about Fernandes' future in yesterday's press conference amid more reports of the Portugal playmaker being given a deadline of the end of the month to decide if he is moving to the Saudi Pro-League with World Club Cup qualifiers Al Hilal.

Again, Amorim said Fernandes is an important player in his squad and he has a big part to play in United's future.

Man Utd XI: Onana, Maguire, Dorgu, Dalot, Heaven, Munro, Moorhouse, Casemiro, Mainoo, Ugarte, Hojlund.

Subs: Bayindir, Heaton, Amass, Evans, Fredricson, Kamason, Kukonki, Colyer, Fernandes, Fletcher,Kone, Thwaites, Diallo, Garnacho, Lacey, Obi.
