Reading are settling in to an early spell of controlled possession in the opening stages and have seen all of the ball so far.

Crawley Town head coach Rob Elliot has also had an enforced re-shuffle for his third game in charge with three changes from the 5-3 defeat at home to Shrewsbury at the weekend.

The suspended Josh Flint, who was sent off, and Jay Williams, who picked up a fifth booking, make way for Joy Mukena and Max Anderson.

Meanwhile, Jojo Wollacott returns in goal having missed the last game on international duty with Ghana in place of Millwall's Connal Trueman who was only with the club on a seven-day emergency loan due to an injury to second-choice keeper Eddie Beach.

Benjamin Tanimu also makes the squad for the first time as a Crawley player.

  6. Posh aim to end 'focused' Wycombe's unbeaten streakpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 19 October

    Wycombe v Peterborough (12:30 BST)

Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson may have felt his team were on the up having beaten Stevenage 2-1 at London Road and then following it up with a thrilling 3-3 draw with Rotherham to see them crawl up to 12th on the table.

But a true test of form awaits them as they visit the high flying Wycombe Wanderers this afternoon.

The Chairboys are on a seven-match unbeaten streak in League One that's left them just five points shy of leaders Birmingham City and within striking distance of the automatic promotion places.

Wycombe manager Matt Bloomfield isn't sitting content just yet either, hinting earlier this week that there was more to come from his squad.

"What I do know about football is that pride comes before a fall and we need to retain our focus and humility. We've done nothing yet," Bloomfield told BBC Three Counties Radio.

Posh got the better of the Chairboys when they met in April but can they snuff out Wycombe's seemingly unbeatable fire power this time round? With the second-worst defensive record in League One, they'll have to work hard to do so.

  7. First EFL meeting as Battle Royal continuespublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 19 October

    Reading v Crawley (12:30 BST)

One of our early kick-offs in League One will see Reading and Crawley meet for the first time ever in the EFL.

Reading have been forced to endure more off the pitch distractions in recent weeks with a fresh transfer embargo, a collapsed takeover bid and now another period of exclusivity as they await another anonymous potential new buyer.

But despite the upheaval, Ruben Selles and his side must battle on to try and pick up results - something they've certainly done on home soil so far this season, winning four out of five.

It has also been a fairly tumultuous couple of months for Crawley upon their return to League One for the first time in nine years with Rob Elliot replacing Scott Lindsey as manager three weeks ago after he left for MK Dons.

After winning their opening two games of the season, Crawley are now winless in eight (D1, L7), and have suffered a run of five straight defeats with the most recent a 5-3 loss at home to Shrewsbury.

Such is the remarkable nature of League One, the Royals could jump from 17th to ninth with a win - or even as high as eighth depending on the margin of victory - ahead of the 15:00 BST kick-offs.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils will clamber out of the relegation zone if they can pick up three points.

  8. Accrington to continue good form?published at 12:16 British Summer Time 19 October

Accrington are beginning to come to life with much needed back-to-back league wins to see them move out of the relegation places.

Dara Costelloe’s injury time winner at Gillingham last Saturday ensured all three points to notch just their second win of the season. That was the 21-year-old winger’s fourth goal in his last three league games.

Barrow lost their unbeaten home record last weekend after they were stunned by lowly Morecombe 1-0. Despite the defeat Stephen Clemence’s side remain amongst the tight play-off spots and can take top spot - albeit briefly - with a win today.

The Bluebirds’ away record doesn't make for great reading having won just two of their last 15 away league games (D4 L9) and will be looking to avoid recording three successive such defeats for the first time since December 2021.

Good afternoon and welcome to what promises to be another afternoon of thrilling EFL action.

Exeter City kicked off the League One programme with a 2-0 victory away at Shrewsbury Town on Thursday night and the international break is now a distant memory.

There are more crucial games at the top today as leaders Birmingham City travel to fifth-placed Lincoln, promotion-chasers Charlton Athletic and Stockport County face-off at The Valley and Wycombe Wanderers host Peterborough United.

Wrexham will look to keep pace with Blues with a trip to Rotherham United and at the other end, Burton Albion and Cambridge United will try and get their first wins against Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic, respectively.

Meanwhile in League Two, six of the congested top-10 sides come head-to-head today including Gillingham's visit to Bradford City, Walsall's clash with Grimsby Town and AFC Wimbledon's trip to Notts County.

In the lunchtime kick-off, Barrow are away at Accrington Stanley, who are 22nd but have won two on the bounce.

Time to get to it then? Let’s go!
