Manchester City have managed to keep her reasonably quiet so far, but will be well aware of the danger posed by Caroline Graham-Hansen.

She has been directly involved in nine goals across her last five group stage appearances in the Women’s Champions League (four goals, five assists), scoring on each of her last three such outings (four goals).

Most of the fans are in shock here. Nobody, and I mean nobody, would have predicted Naomi Layzell scoring to put Manchester City 1-0 up at half-time against Barcelona. A woman in front of me put her hand to her chest, blew her cheeks and said 'I've lost my voice!'

City should have scored more than one goal. They could have scored at least three goals in this half.

A chance for an equaliser and it falls to Caroline Graham-Hansen, who has got clear of the City defence with only Ayaka Yamashita to beat.

But the City keeper has her angles spot on and dives well to save the resulting low strike.

What an incredible moment for Naomi Layzell!

It doesn't get much bigger than this. Scoring, on your Champions League debut against Barcelona.

Layzell can hardly believe her luck. The screams from the home fans when that went in... My ears have burst.

The entire City squad huddled around Layzell to celebrate. Incredible.

    Naomi Layzell

What a moment for Naomi Layzell as she gets the first goal of the game as Manchester City take the lead.

Cata Coll had just done superbly to make a save to give City a corner. But from the delivery she goes on a walkabout, coming for the cross and not getting to it.

Vivianne Miedema at the back post does superbly to head the ball back into the danger zone and Layzell shows great reflexes to get there first and divert the ball past four Barcelona defenders and into the net.

I have no idea where that hand came from! It just extended from nowhere. It's a point-blank save.

Vivianne Miedema sets up Khadija Shaw and it looks like being the opening goal, but Cata Coll somehow flings herself to the right to get a hand to it, corner. Brilliant stop.

Man City are relying on the left-hand side and getting the ball to Lauren Hemp.

  17. 'Frustration'published at 34 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 Barcelona

    Emma Sanders

Khadija Shaw's reaction to that terrible free-kick from Mary Fowler says it all. She just threw her arms down by her side in frustration and walked back with her head down, straight past Fowler without looking up.

  18. Postpublished at 33 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 Barcelona

City waste the free-kick though as Mary Fowler's delivery from wide left flies over the head of Khadija Shaw at the back post and a good chance to threaten the Barcelona goal is wasted.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 31 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 Barcelona

Mapi Leon guilty of a clumsy challenge on Khadija Shaw and that is enough to earn the Barcelona defender with a booking.

Barcelona would normally be looking to attack quickly and counter but they're looking to take the sting out of it a little bit instead.
