Layzell can hardly believe her luck. The screams from the home fans when that went in... My ears have burst.

The entire City squad huddled around Layzell to celebrate. Incredible.

I have no idea where that hand came from! It just extended from nowhere. It's a point-blank save.

Vivianne Miedema sets up Khadija Shaw and it looks like being the opening goal, but Cata Coll somehow flings herself to the right to get a hand to it, corner. Brilliant stop.

Khadija Shaw's reaction to that terrible free-kick from Mary Fowler says it all. She just threw her arms down by her side in frustration and walked back with her head down, straight past Fowler without looking up.

City waste the free-kick though as Mary Fowler's delivery from wide left flies over the head of Khadija Shaw at the back post and a good chance to threaten the Barcelona goal is wasted.

Mapi Leon guilty of a clumsy challenge on Khadija Shaw and that is enough to earn the Barcelona defender with a booking.

Barcelona would normally be looking to attack quickly and counter but they're looking to take the sting out of it a little bit instead.

Lauren Hemp moves down the left side for City, but the delivery from the flank is collected by Cata Coll, who drops to the turf to calm the match down a touch. It has been frantic and a very good watch.

It's a real positive opportunity for City. Shaw didn't connect as she'd want but it's another good chance for City to try and get this goal.

A half-chance for Manchester City's Khadija Shaw, moving backwards to connect with a cross but she is off balance and can't put any power on the header and it dribbles to Cata Coll.

Shaw then has another sight of goal, but can't connect cleanly with an effort from the edge of the area.

So, so close for Barcelona.

Vivianne Miedema's backpass is underhit, Ewa Pajor gets to the ball ahead of City goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita, who is now nowhere.

Pajor strikes at goal but it is a truly brilliant goal-saving clearance from Laia Aleixandri. Brilliant from her to save her team-mates blushes.

That was phenomenal defending from Batlle there how she got across Miedema.

City are being so brave in that press. They're staying high.

Manchester City were comfortably beaten in Spain in 2021 but put in a better performance in the return leg, when they pressed Barcelona.

They seem to have learned from that experience and they are really going for it.

Barca have struggled to cope with Lauren Hemp and Khadija Shaw. But City have to take these chances.

More superb play from Khadija Shaw to set up Vivianne Miedema, who is denied by brilliant defending by ex-Manchester United full-back Ona Batlle.

The ball falls to Lauren Hemp, she takes a touch to set herself in the penalty area and strikes well at goal. I don't think Cata Coll got a touch and the ball bounces off the left upright.

So close for City. Great game this one. Both sides have now hit the woodwork.

Manchester City fancy this. Khadija Shaw gets into the penalty area after a fine run down the right and Vivianne Miedema has a shot blocked.

Barcelona try to counter down their left and Laia Aleixandri chops down her fellow Spaniard Alexia Putellas and gets a very deserved yellow card.

Once more, Cata Coll has to show some nifty footwork to clear only yards from her goalline with Jess Park sprinting in. It looks great if you get away with it. That's twice the Barca keeper, looking the most composed person in the stadium, has got away with it.

Now she's sprinting after Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmati in the Champions League.
