Tonight sees the first of the two Championship play-off semi-final second legs as Leeds United host Norwich City at Elland Road.

The two sides played out a goalless draw in the first leg on Sunday, with the winner of tonight's clash setting up a final against West Bromwich Albion or Southampton later this month.

For Leeds boss Daniel Farke, it seems him looking to down a Canaries side who he previously managed and took to the Premier League twice, having won the Championship with them on both occasions.

While Leeds are aiming to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, Norwich are aiming for promotion after spending the past two campaigns in England's second tier.

Arsenal

We have seen him as a player and we know him as a manager, but who is Mikel Arteta?

In the final week of a thrilling Premier League season, the Arsenal manager invited BBC Sport columnist Guillem Balague to his home for an exclusive hour-long interview.

Manuel Neuer and Toni Kroos could each attend their fourth European Championships after being named in host nation Germany's provisional Euro 2024 squad.

Midfielder Kroos, 34, announced his international retirement in July 2021 but reversed the decision in March following talks with head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Goalkeeper Neuer, 38, has not played for his country since 2022, after breaking his leg following the Qatar World Cup.

Bayern Munich duo Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry miss out while Tottenham striker Timo Werner is absent with a hamstring injury.

Mats Hummels and Julian Brandt have been key figures in Borussia Dortmund's run to the Champions League final but are omitted from the 27-man squad, which will be reduced to 26 after Germany's friendly matches against Ukraine and Greece in June.

Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno is included along with former Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, Arsenal forward Kai Havertz and Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross.

Former boss Dean Smith believes Aston Villa are entering a new era after reaching the Champions League.

The Charlotte FC head coach expects Unai Emery’s side to consistently challenge for the top four now they have broken through.

Villa will play in the Champions League for the first time since it was rebranded from the European Cup after sealing fourth in the Premier League this week.

They last played in Europe’s top competition in 1983-84, having lifted the trophy in 1982, and Smith expects this to be a new dawn of challenging at the top.

“I believe it will because of the owners’ (Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris) passion and drive to become one of those teams who can be a top six team every year,” said Smith, who was in charge between 2018 and 2021, winning promotion from the Championship in 2019.

“I remember when I first went for talks with Suso, Christian Purslow and the owners and there was a five-year plan to get into the Champions League.

“This is the fifth year and their plan has come to fruition. The owners had a vision, had to spend for what they wanted to do and going from the Championship to the Champions League in five years is an incredible achievement.

“I believed it was achievable. I said when we were promoted the next step was to stay up, and once we did, we spent our money really well, we brought in Ollie Watkins, Matty Cash, Bertrand Traore and Ross Barkley on loan.

“I always felt, after finishing 17th in that first year (back in the Premier League), climbing six or seven places would be really achievable which is what we did (finishing 11th in 2020-21). The next step of climbing two or three places was going to be hard because you were trying to pass established clubs.

“You were always going to have to overtake one of them to get to that elite level. Unai has done unbelievably well.”

Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank on whether he can achieve all of his ambitions with the club: "I can’t see why not. Ambition is many things.

"Of course you never know what is going to happen in the future, maybe I stay here for the rest of my time in football, maybe I go to another club.

"Ambition is how do I make the perfect club, can we things. It’s maybe against us to win the title, but we can win other things. Maybe qualify for Europe. I don’t want to set any aims, because if I did that we’d always be asked about that.

"We want to win the next game and we want to be ambitious about that."

Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank on whether he feels at home with the Bees: "I think it is the perfect football life for me. I think it would be for any manager, head of media, player or staff member.

"It is probably the same for City, Arsenal or Liverpool, but a club of that size that compete for titles. There are so many good things here and so many structures and processes and people that make it the best possible place for a lot of people to work at.

"The culture is good, we are striking in the same direction, it is aligned. It’s less stressful. Before we started, I was confident we’d never lose five in a row in the Premier League, but boom, a reality check in January, but I am happy here."

Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has just spoken to the media ahead of his side's final day clash against Newcastle United.

The Bees sit in 16th place, but could finish a spot higher, should they pick up more points than Everton do.

We shall bring you some of what he has said ahead of that game next.

Fifa has proposed a five-pillar plan to tackle racist abuse in football.

The sport's world governing body said it had undergone an "extensive consultation process" with current and former players who "are passionate about making change".

One of the plan's proposals would see the introduction of a standard crossed-hands gesture for players to communicate racist incidents during matches.

The 'Global Stand Against Racism' proposal will be presented to Fifa's 211 members at its annual congress in Bangkok on Thursday.

Brentford

Brentford centre-back Ben Mee has signed a new one-year contract extension with the Bees.

Mee, 34, has spent the past two seasons with Brentford, scoring five goals in 56 appearances for Thomas Frank's side in all competitions.

“Ben was a really good signing in the summer of 2022," said Brentford director of football Phil Giles.

"He is an important and popular member of the squad, so I’m really pleased he is with us next season."

The Daily Mail

Now here's some gossip on one of England's Euro 2022-winning stars as Ella Toone is reported to be a transfer target for Barcelona this summer, according to the Daily Mail, external.

The forward is contracted to Manchester United until 2026, meaning Barca would have to pay a high price to prise her away to Spain.

But the 24-year-old, who is United's record scorer and appearance maker, is said to be of interest to the Spanish giants, who already have Toone's fellow Lionesses Kiera Walsh and Lucy Bronze on their books.

Stefan Ortega arrived on a free transfer from Arminia Bielefeld in the summer of 2022 and has so far proved an able understudy for Ederson.

After making three Premier League starts last season, he has had to make four substitute appearances in place of Ederson this term.

The most recent was in Tuesday's 2-0 win at Tottenham, when Ortega made some crucial saves to keep City in front before Erling Haaland converted a stoppage-time penalty to seal victory.

Stefan Ortega is set to make his 12th Premier League appearance on Sunday when Manchester City host West Ham.

The 31-year-old German goes into that game with a very good record when called upon in the Premier League.

City have so far not lost a league match in which Ortega has played, with nine wins and two draws.

In 542 Premier League minutes this season, Ortega has conceded six goals at a rate of one every 90.33 minutes.

Ortega has made 2.38 saves per game with a save success of 76%, while Ederson has averaged 1.73 saves at 67.86%.
