Just 12 months ago, the 22-year-old forward was playing for Championship side Middlesbrough but, since his move to Villa Park, he has become an England international and been playing in Europe's top club competition.
"It's hard to put it into words because everything has happened so quickly," he told BBC Radio WM. "The next challenge has just kept falling at my lap.
"I'm loving it. I'm enjoying it. It was my dreams and ambitions, as a kid, to play in the Premier League and Champions League. Enjoying these experiences along the way is vital and massive for me.
"I've obviously still got work to do. I've still got a long way to get to where I want to. I'm happy with the way I have progressed and where I have got to, but I just want to keep pushing and keep getting better. Hopefully I can do that with Villa.
"I want to be an established Premier League player, which I don't think I am yet. I want to be that consistent player in the national team. I want to play on the biggest stages and be considered as one of the best players in those competitions.
"I don't think I've played enough games yet to consider myself as an established player. I need more consistency in my games and more games under my belt, in terms of taking that next step and cementing my Premier League status.
"I thought the Championship was hard - this is a whole new level."

Aston Villa have travelled to Germany having won three of their five games in Europe so far, although their most recent results have been a 1-0 loss to Club Brugge and a goalless draw with Juventus.
RB Leipzig, meanwhile, have lost every game they have played so far in the Champions League and are currently 34th in the 36-team table.

The Champions League has been a happy hunting ground for Aston Villa so far this season and if they can continue that good form then perhaps it will stand them in good stead for the rest of the competition and give them a bit more confidence going back into the Premier League.

This Champions League campaign has been an awful lot of fun so far for Aston Villa.
In a repeat of the 1982 European Cup final, they beat Bayern Munich 1-0 and then gained a draw at home against Juventus.
A win in Germany tonight at RB Leipzig would put Unai Emery's side in with a great chance of moving into the top eight as they bid to not only advance, but also skip the play-off round.
After tonight, Villa have an away tie at Monaco and then end the league phase at home to Celtic.

RB Leipzig and Aston Villa have never previously faced each other in Europe. However, the German side have lost each of their last four matches against English sides in the UEFA Champions League, while conceding 14 goals in those four games.
This will be Aston Villa’s first away game against a German opponent in Europe since December 2008, in a 1-3 defeat to Hamburg in the UEFA Cup. Meanwhile, their last one in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League was in October 1981, in a 2-1 victory over Berliner FC Dynamo.
RB Leipzig have lost each of their last five UEFA Champions League matches, all of which have been this season. If they lose here, it will be their longest ever losing streak in the competition, and the longest by a German side overall since Bayer Leverkusen in March 2003 (7).
