1. 'Haaland was never going to hit the heights of last season'published at 10:43 British Summer Time 2 April

Speaking on the Monday Night Club

    Chris Sutton
Former Blackburn striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I understand what people say about Erling Haaland's hold-up play but I don't think he's that bad. He wasn't brought into Manchester City to play a creative role, he was brought in to occupy the centre-halves and for others to create for him because he's the monster finisher.

He was never going to hit the heights he hit last season. He's still an outstanding striker, he's just off it.

I don't think Sunday was about Haaland not being at it, it's always been about people being able to create an opportunity for him. Haaland did miss an opportunity but that was the only one he really had.

  2. 'We're not asking Haaland to be a Bergkamp'published at 10:39 British Summer Time 2 April

Speaking on the Monday Night Club

    Micah Richards
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

No-one's asking Erling Haaland to become a number 10, be like Harry Kane and play 30-40 yard balls. All they're asking for is that for somebody of his size, when the ball comes to him, can he just hold it up?

Gabriel and [William] Saliba on Sunday, every time they got close to him, they would use their strength and get the all back. All people are asking for is to use his body more. We're not asking him to be a [Dennis] Bergkamp.

There are times when you're not going to get an opportunity but you need to do other things to help the team out in terms of a build-up.

  3. Keane criticism of Haaland 'was total nonsense and unfair'published at 10:33 British Summer Time 2 April

Speaking on the Monday Night Club

    Chris Sutton
Former Blackburn striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

On Roy Keane saying Erling Haaland's "almost like a League Two player": It was total nonsense and unfair on Erling Haaland. Everybody has sung [William] Saliba and Gabriel's praises all season. When [Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan] Ortega was clipping balls into Haaland, they're probably the best at working off a centre-forward's touch, being really clever with their defending.

Could Haaland have been a bit stronger, could he have been a bit cuter, could his brain have worked better in those moments? Of course. But at times you come up against brilliant defenders, which [Saliba and Gabriel] were on Sunday.

They can get so tight and do that because they always have the other one covering round. That makes it difficult for Haaland, but essentially, that's not what his primary role was when he was brought into Manchester City.

The new Manchester City documentary streaming on Netflix from Tuesday 2 April is here to bring the fun.

Together: Treble Winners is a new six-part series documenting the club's 2022-23 campaign, when they became only the second English club in history to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the same season.

Anyone hoping for intrigue, though, may be disappointed. The 115 financial charges brought against the club last February are dealt with briefly and Joao Cancelo's contentious exit from the squad last January to join Bayern Munich on loan takes place off-screen.

Instead, the series - shot by City's in-house media team - focuses on bringing out the playful personalities within the squad.

Whether that's Erling Haaland ridiculing Kevin de Bruyne's fashion sense, Scott Carson mock-wrestling with Ilkay Gundogan, or Bernardo Silva explaining why he named his dog after defender John Stones.

We do get to see boss Pep Guardiola tear into the team a couple of times during a winter dip in form, but this is otherwise a story of fraternal harmony.

The series ends with an address by chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak about the "special togetherness" of the group, which he attributes to their success.

What camp do you stand in then? Are you with Micah and believe a half-volley is any time after the ball's bounced, or is it as Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer say, that it's immediately after the ball hit the ground?

Hit thumbs up for Micah, thumbs down for Gary/Alan.

As much as it's wrong (imo) for the Turkish FA to charge 2 players for violence on the football pitch, Fenerbahce have been badly advised to retaliate in suggesting a vote to leave the league. We know it won't happen. Turkish football is in such a mess at the minute which is a shame for the genuine fans.

  11. Fenerbahce members to vote on Super Lig withdrawalpublished at 09:45 British Summer Time 2 April

Fenerbahce members will decide on Tuesday whether the club will withdraw from the Turkish Super Lig.

In March, the 19-time title winners said they would consider withdrawing from the league after their players were attacked by Trabzonspor fans.

Fenerbahce won the game 3-2 and Trabzonspor fans entered the pitch, attacking security forces and players.

At Tuesday's extraordinary general assembly meeting, members will vote on whether the club should withdraw.

The Turkish Football Federation reported three of Fenerbahce's players and two club officials to the country's Professional Football Disciplinary Board for their involvement in the fights.

Tensions started to rise when former Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi scored an 87th-minute winner, with objects thrown onto the pitch.

Nigeria winger Bright Osayi-Samuel, who used to play for Blackpool and Queens Park Rangers, knocked one pitch invader to the ground while Batshuayi aimed a kick at another.

Fifa president Gianni Infantino said the incidents were "absolutely unacceptable".

Ipswich are the equivalent to the Championship as Liverpool are to the Premier League. Resilient and play with heart, Leeds and Leicester will still be favourites much like people say Man City are favourites.
