    Manchester United 4-0 Liverpool

A rare sight at a WSL match - one of the match balls has been popped.

    A replacement is quickly available.

  2. Postpublished at 13:47 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2024

    Tottenham 1-1 Everton

In to two minutes of first-half stoppage time and Everton will have the chance to whip a free-kick into the Tottenham penalty area after Jessica Naz is booked for a foul on Lucy Hope.

  3. Postpublished at 13:47 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2024

    Man City 2-0 Leicester

Bunny Shaw lets fly from distance this time. She thunders the ball at goal with her right foot but it flies well over the Leicester bar.

Yui Hasegawa picks up the ball from the resulting goal kick but her drive and shot at goal is claimed easily by Janina Leitzig.

I think Leicester should be pulling a goal back there. The corner is whipped in low to the near post and the ball in ricochets off the thigh of Sophie Howard and bounces just wide.

Could Howard have adjusted in time to divert the cross goalwards?

United have completely dominated this game, and are keen on a fifth goal.

Simi Awujo drags a shot wide from 18 yards.

  6. Postpublished at 13:44 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2024

    Tottenham 1-1 Everton

A double change after 36 minutes dominated by Tottenham, and by 40 minutes Everton are level. But as much as Brian Sorensen might hope to take credit, that was all about Sara Holmgaard.

Tottenham, stunned, look to get back on track but Courtney Brosnan once again comes to Everton's rescue with a fine save to deny Martha Thomas as half-time approaches.

  7. CLOSE!published at 13:44 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2024

    Man City 2-0 Leicester

Leicester almost grab a goal back before half time.

Courtney Nevin swings in a dangerous corner ball and Khiara Keating fails to collect for Man City in the middle.

Luckily for the City keeper the ball is bundled wide by Sophie Howard.

It's beautiful football from Manchester United and this is the kind of football that their fans love to see. That is not an easy finish from Melvine Malard. It's a great performance from United.

I wanted to see how United responded to their 1-0 defeat to Chelsea. Today has been one of their better performances. They've been really next level today and I am really impressed by them.

    What a goal that is!

The coaching staff absolutely loved it. Assistant Charlotte Healy had her arms outstretched in celebration and gave Marc Skinner a big high five afterwards.

Fans start chanting "we want five".

Two more changes for United following the fourth goal.

Hinata Miyazawa makes way for Simi Awujo, while Jayde Riviere is replaced by Emma Watson who is making her first WSL appearance of the season.

  11. CLOSE!published at 13:41 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2024

    Man City 2-0 Leicester

Khadija Shaw is gunning for her hat-trick here.

A ball is floated into the box from the left and after a series of pinball passes it drops invitingly for the forward to volley at goal.

She just snatches at the finish though, dragging it wide of the far post.

Ruby Mace is on the sideline waiting to come on after a collision with a Man City player.

The former blue will be eager to come back on and make her mark here I'm sure.

    It's a thrashing.

Dominique Janssen has had her best game for Man Utd so far, and provides the assist here with a perfect far-post cross from the right wing.

Melvine Malard swoops in unmarked and volleys home at the near post, Teagan Micah gets a hand to it but cannot keep it out.

  14. goal

GOAL - Tottenham 1-1 Evertonpublished at 13:40 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2024

    Sara Holmgaard (40 mins)

    STRIKEEE!

Everton have barely been involved in this half but that is some equaliser from Sara Holmgaard, who unleashes a thunderous shot from outside the box which leaves Eleanor Heeps completely helpless.

It's a wonderful goal, but Tottenham will wonder how that has happened.

  15. Postpublished at 13:40 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2024

    Manchester United 3-0 Liverpool

You can hear the wind whistling through the pitchside microphones in Leigh. It is foul weather in the north-west today.

Liverpool will just want to get back into the warm changing rooms.

  16. Postpublished at 13:39 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2024

    Man City 2-0 Leicester

Manchester City are cruising at the moment. The hosts win a wide free-kick and they launch it into the middle looking for Khadija Shaw, but a foul is given against the Jamaican for pushing in the area.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 13:38 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2024

    Tottenham 1-0 Everton

Better from Everton, who finally have some possession in the Tottenham half.

But Brian Sorensen has seen enough already! After 36 minutes, a double change.

On come Elise Stenevik and Veatriki Sarri for Karoline Olesen and Melissa Lawley.

No sign of any injuries for either player. That tells you everything.

When you talk about Manchester City and Chelsea, it's their number nines that make the difference for them. That's why they are dominating in the WSL and will challenge in Europe.

I know how difficult it is to score goals in this league, but Khadija Shaw makes it look so easy.
