A great start for Manchester United.

I have no idea what the goalkeeper is doing there.

In front of Haikin's travelling supporters, but credit to Rasmus Hojlund putting pressure on. Alejandro Garnacho follows it up and he was on the front foot.

    Awful goalkeeping.

Huge shouts for a penalty at Tottenham meanwhile, where Pape Sarr hits the deck under a tackle from Mats Hummels.

It looked stonewall in real time, although replays were less conclusive. VAR is checking this...

Another lightning start, a goal inside 50 seconds!

But what was the goalkeeper doing?!

Rasmus Hojlund closes Bodo/Glimt stopper Nikita Haikin down and the keeper doesn't get the ball away quick enough.

Hojlund makes a tackle but is then dragged to the floor by Haikin. Alejandro Garnacho is following up and coolly taps home.

Ruben Amorim is wearing a distinctive pair of white trainers so he is pretty easy to spot.

He applauded the Stretford End as soon as he came out of the tunnel, then did the same to the supporters in the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand as he made his way to the dug-out.

Ruben Amorim got a very positive reaction when he walked out of the tunnel just before kick-off.

He's a very popular man among United supporters.

Oh, by the way, United are playing a competitive match against Norwegian opposition for the first time tonight.

    Nizaar Kinsella
BBC Sport football news reporter at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

It is bitterly cold out in North London tonight amid temperatures just below freezing so save a thought for us in the press box.

But there is the usual packed out attendance in the 61,000 seater stadium which is probably the best in the United Kingdom.

There promises to be a vibrant away end with a passionate group of Roma fans but Spurs are also trialling a singing section in the South Stand, which is the biggest single-tier stand in English football. reminiscent of Dortmund's "Yellow Wall".

It will be interesting to see if it boosts what is already a good atmosphere at this club.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot made a good point after his side's momentous victory over Real Madrid last night.

Really, the only significant target in this expanded group phase is to secure a top eight finish, which gets you straight through to the last-16, which is not played until March.

For Ruben Amorim that is particularly important as it would mean two clear weeks in February to work with his players.

After a win and three draws from their opening four games, United have a bit of work to do and victory tonight probably won't get them into the top eight. But they wouldn't be too far away with three games left.

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has been speaking to TNT Sports.

On Antony starting: "He has some things to do defensively a bit different, but it is the same position. Like I said, everybody needs to be ready."

On the advice he's given to his team: "First of all they need to enjoy the game more. They need to stop thinking about positioning. We have had one training session to do that, they understand the way we do it better."

Not sure we can afford to give Glimt a head start playing the anonymous Mount, but hopefully the 10 men get the job done.

Here it is then, the game Manchester United fans have all been waiting for.

United's game with Bodo/Glimt is new manager Ruben Amorim's first at Old Trafford as Manchester United's head coach.

He has previously been in charge of 38 European games across his spells with Portuguese sides Braga and Sporting.

He lost both of his two Europa League games with Braga, before joining Sporting, with whom he has had 15 wins in Europe, with 10 draws and 11 losses.

They reached the last 16 of the Champions League in 2021-22, followed by the quarter-finals of the Europa League in 2022-23 and the last 16 in 2023-24.

Sporting's 4-1 victory over Manchester City earlier this month meant he left for Manchester United with three wins and one draw from four Champions League games this season.

  17. Man Utd's £21.4m manager decisionpublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November

    Man Utd v Bodo/Glimt (20:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

Manchester United have confirmed the cost of replacing Erik ten Hag with Ruben Amorim.

In the detail of first quarter accounts submitted to the New York Stock Exchange, the club said the exit of Ten Hag and his staff cost £10.4m, while hiring Amorim from Sporting cost £11m.

This comes at a time when ticket prices have shot up to £66, with no concessions for Premier League games.

United argue that 97% of tickets have already been sold so there will be a minimal effect on most fans and the move represents an effort to maximise income and reduce costs across the club that has led to around 250 redundancies.

It just shows that while money can be saved at a club, by far the biggest costs are involved in first-team recruitment - which United have not been particularly good at.

  18. 'I'm not here for a holiday'published at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November

    Nice v Rangers (20:00 GMT)

Rangers manager Philippe Clement insists he is not treating his return to the south of France as a "holiday" as his side prepare to face Nice in the Europa League on Thursday.

Clement spent 18 months as Monaco manager before taking over at Rangers, and says it is "special" to return to that part of the world.

"It's special to be back," Clement said. "I had a really good time here. I enjoyed living here. I met some really nice people, so a lot of friends will come to watch this game.

"So yeah, this feels like a place where you were in a really good way, so I’m happy to be back in that way.

"But I'm not here for a holiday or to meet people tomorrow or to have talks with a lot of people. I'm here to work."

Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt are currently establishing themselves as Norway's top team, that has not always been the case.

Sporting director Havard Sakariassen used to be a player at the club and he remembered a period where the squad had to wash their own kit.

"If you go back to the year in 2009-2011, the club was struggling really hard financially," he said.

"I had my last season in 2011 as a player. In mid-season that year I quit. I was old and not any good. I left the changing room and went upstairs.

"At that time the club was in such bad conditions that we didn't have a kit manager. We washed our training gear at home and came to training already dressed. That was the situation at Bodo/Glimt in 2011.

"We had one person working for the A team that autumn. That was me. I was the kit man."

Even though the Norwegian champions accept they can never come close to matching the financial muscle Premier League clubs receive, they do not travel to Manchester without belief of causing a shock.

"We don't have the resources you see at top clubs in England," Sakariassen added. "We will never, ever be able to compete with that.

"But we truly believe in development and that we can get the potential out of the players we have here. If we can do that, as individuals and as a team, it is huge. Then you can make a great team and it goes a long way.

"Maybe I am naive. But in a single match like on Thursday, I think we will be able to compete against Manchester United and have a great performance at Old Trafford."

  20. 'Chelsea doing it in style'published at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November

    FT: Heidenheim 0-2 Chelsea

    Joe Cole
Ex-Chelsea and England midfielder on TNT Sports

It was comfortable for Chelsea, although it wasn't an 8-0 win.

Mykhailo Mudryk did what Mudryk does. He was on the periphery until he scored. Christopher Nkunku has proved he is a goalscorer. He is so calm in front of the goal.

Filip Jorgensen was also good in good tonight. You don't hear his name too much because he isn't flashy. He has faced a lot of shots and he has produced moments. He will be pushing for a start over Robert Sanchez.

There were a lot of positives for Enzo Maresca's side. We all expected them to cruise through this competition, but they've done it in style.
