There is one who tops that list and that is LeGod, Matt Le Tissier. Stayed at the club out of pure loyalty when had options to further career elsewhere. Forever grateful.

The ultimate faithful has to be Matt Le Tissier. Most of the others mentioned did it at clubs winning trophies and/or hometown clubs.

Greatest footballing faithful for me is Matt Le Tissier. Not a Saints fan but admire how he stayed with them at a time when the Premier League was taking off. Greatest player not to win a trophy.

  3. Liverpool keep delivering for Slotpublished at 08:58 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

Liverpool v Ipswich (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

Liverpool boss Arne Slot asked for more late winners from his side last Friday and, a day later, his players delivered with two added time goals from Darwin Nunez in a 2-0 win at Brentford.

Just like against the Bees, the Reds have followed the Dutchman's instructions for most of the season and are reaping the benefits.

Liverpool provided Slot with another victory on Tuesday when they beat Lille in the Champions League, and they remain top of the Premier League and Champions League group phase table.

The Anfield outfit host Ipswich Town on Saturday (15:00 GMT) and Slot will be speaking to the media at about 09:00 today to talk all things Liverpool.

Reds captain Virgil van Dijk is set to make his 300th appearance for the club against the Tractor Boys in a season in which he has again shown his worth to Liverpool.

The 33-year-old centre-back has played every minute of his side's 21 games in the top flight as well as their seven outings in the Champions League.

And, while Van Dijk - along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah - is out of contract in the summer, his commitment, leadership and defensive qualities have been clear to see and make him so important to Slot.

We'll hear what Slot has to say about his compatriot as well as his thoughts on the title race and any team news soon.

Manchester City have acted in the transfer market this month as they try to avoid their worst season since 2008-09 - the season they were taken over by their Abu Dhabi owners.

City - who sit fifth in the Premier League - have already signed three players this month for a combined £123m.

They are Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush, Palmeiras defender Vitor Reis and Lens centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov.

They are also interested in Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso and Real Valladolid defender Juma Bah.

So how could City look after these signings?

Manchester United may have boosted morale with a last-gasp win to close in on a place in the Europa League knockout phase but they may be without one of their young stars if they get there.

Winger Alejandro Garnacho, 20, leads today's BBC Sport gossip page with United's Premier League rivals Chelsea believed to have a serious interest in the Argentina international.

  14. Jamaica waiting on Greenwood documentspublished at 08:11 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

The Jamaican Football Association are still waiting for the documentation that would allow former Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood to switch his international allegiance.

Sources with an understanding of the situation say the documents relate to his mum, whose parents were born in Jamaica.

Although Greenwood played in a Nations League game for England, because he was under the age of 21 at the time, it doesn’t stop him playing for another country.

Numerous reports have suggested Greenwood is close to committing to Jamaica. However, that will not happen in time for the March internationals.

“Nothing has changed,” JFA general secretary Dennis Chung told local media.

“We are basically waiting on a document. That is all we are waiting on but we have been waiting on that for a little while and there is no timeline on when that documentation will be completed.”

  16. Man Utd at risk of PSR breach, club tell fanspublished at 07:59 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

    Manchester United

Manchester United have written to fans to warn them that the club are at risk of breaching spending rules and ticket prices could rise as a result.

In a letter to fan groups, United said they must "act now".

Under the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules (PSR), clubs can lose up to £105m over three years.

"If we do not act now, we are in danger of falling to comply with PSR/FFP requirements," the club said in the letter.

"We are currently making a significant loss each year - totalling over £300m in the past three years. This is not sustainable."

The inaugural Europa League league phase is set for an exciting final day next week - with plenty still to play for.

All 18 games will be played at the same time - at 20:00 GMT on Thursday, 30 January.

Manchester United and Tottenham can both secure a place in the top eight and with it direct passage to the last 16.

Rangers could join them should they win and other results go in their favour.

All three are guaranteed a least a place in the play-off round.

  18. 'The fans love Garnacho' - but has he said farewell to Old Trafford?published at 07:47 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

    Manchester United 2-1 Rangers

    Alejandro GarnachoImage source, Getty Images

Manchester United moved to within touching distance of a place in the Europa League last 16 but doubt persists over whether Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford will still be around to help them in the knockout phase of the competition.

Head coach Ruben Amorim said after the dramatic 2-1 win over Rangers at Old Trafford that he "did not know what will happen" before the transfer window closes on 3 February.

There are rumours around a number of United players, including Brazilian wideman Antony, who has been linked with a loan to Spanish club Real Betis, and Dutch full-back Tyrell Malacia, who is looking to relaunch his career after a nightmare spell of injuries.

But it is Garnacho and Rashford who are attracting most attention.

The intros had been written, the praise laid on thick, with a trowel. Rangers had come back from the dead.

They had survived injuries, they had brought on two teenagers, they had gifted a goal to Manchester United and yet there they were, fighting, believing, scoring.

A point in the circumstances would have felt like a win, but there was neither a point nor a win.

Instead, there was a moment of hesitation from Rangers at the back. There was Bruno Fernandes rescuing his team. And there was pain on the face of every Rangers player.

So close to a fine result, but so far.

  20. 'I hope our fans never get used to losing games'published at 07:38 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

    Manchester United 2-1 Rangers

    Manchester United

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, speaking to TNT Sports: "I know how much it means for the fans to win games. You really want to win games.

"We are a little bit frustrated because we started the year well here with two great games against Liverpool and Arsenal, then Southampton we had good resilience but didn't play good football. We had the game with Brighton which didn't go for us.

"We want to get through the Europa League and get to the final in Bilbao. We want to get top eight so we don't have to play two more games.

"It's not about the character. We have to prove that in the 90 minutes, we can't bring that out when we concede a goal. We concede a late goal and we have to score a late goal.

"At this club, you need to win every game. You know that if you don't win games here, it will be difficult. I hope our fans never get used to losing games. I hope they believe in this team to win games."
