Goals from Charley Kendall and Gus Scott-Morriss gave Southend United a 2-0 win over Tamworth.

They went ahead after just 11 minutes when Kendall met Nathan Ralph's cross with a near-post header into the far corner.

Ten minutes from the end Harry Boyes' cross was converted by fellow wing-back Scott-Morriss.

Tom Hopper almost made it three but was denied by a superb save from Tamworth keeper Jasbir Singh.

Southend continue to impress in the early stages of the season, this their second win from two after losing in the play-off final at the end of the last campaign.
