Summary

  1. Postpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 4 June

    Northern Ireland 1-2 Portugal

The away side seem happier to keep possession in midfield this half and when they try to push into the final third, Northern Ireland's defence are quickly closing them down meaning that we haven't seen many chances so far this half.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:18 British Summer Time 4 June

    Northern Ireland 1-2 Portugal

    Jessica Silva replaces Diana Silva.

The Benfica striker had a huge impact on the game on Friday night. Can the Northern Ireland defence stop her from doing the same this evening?

  3. Postpublished at 20:13 British Summer Time 4 June

    Northern Ireland 1-2 Portugal

It was an eventful and energetic first half, but so far the second half hasn't followed that pattern.

Will Tanya Oxtoby turn to her bench again in the hope that they can help Northern Ireland find an equaliser or will Francisco Neto be the next to make a substitution?

  4. Postpublished at 20:07 British Summer Time 4 June

    Northern Ireland 1-2 Portugal

Telma Encarnacao calls Jackie Burns into action for the first time in the second half, but it proves a very comfortable save for the Northern Ireland stopper on her 50th appearance.

Casey Howe is a player in form at club level with Athlone Town and she also impressed with appearances off the bench against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Portugal last time out.

Tanya Oxtoby will hope she can have a similar positive impact on the right-hand side for Northern Ireland in this second half.

We have great strength and depth on the bench, especially in attacking areas and I would expect to see some of those players come on that are in-form for their clubs.

Northern Ireland deserved their lead at the start of the game, but when the goal went in it seemed to kick start Portugal and they dominated the play as they did on Friday.

They're probably well worth their 2-1 lead at this point and time.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 19:48 British Summer Time 4 June

    Northern Ireland 1-2 Portugal

Portugal lead at the break thanks to goals from Francisca Nazareth and Andreia Norton.

Lauren Wade broke the deadlock for the home side after just five minutes, but the goal proved to be the wake up call the away side needed and after the equaliser they dominated the match.

However, they have just the one goal advantage at the break meaning there is a huge second half to come.

Francisco Neto certainly doesn't seem content for his side to only have a one goal lead at the break.

Will Portugal find another goal before the half-time whistle or can Northern Ireland find a leveller?

Northern Ireland poked the beast by scoring so early against the group leaders, and Portugal have certainly responded by again taking advantage of some naivety from Tanya Oxtoby's side.

The game is being played at a frantic pace at the moment, and Northern Ireland are still well in it.

That is her fifth goal for Portugal and it could be a crucial one in Group B3.
