    • England caps: 86 (four under Tuchel)
    • How's he done under Tuchel? Despite being a regular under Gareth Southgate, Stones has only played in one England game this season, managing 90 minutes against Albania.
    • What about his club form this season? Stones started the season as Manchester City's main centre-back but missed the Manchester derby with a muscle injury. Since then he's been an unused substitute in five of City's last seven league matches.

Thanks Sid, Daniel and everyone else who's got involved.

Djed Spence, hey? Why don't we stick on defenders for a little bit....

I would like to see Djed Spence included, he is comfortable at either left or right back, meaning you can take one less defender without having to compromise leaving out any exciting attacking options. Also a shout for Solanke if fit and in form.

J Henderson needs to be nowhere near Englands World Cup squad. He’s past his best and at his best he shouldn’t have been in the squad

England goalkeeper Dean Henderson, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "Delighted, I found out this morning and it is always an honour - you have to be ready when called upon.

"Thankfully, it was a good night. I didn't want to be the one that stepped in and conceded! Jordan [Pickford] has been excellent.

"He has had the shirt for a long time now, he has been putting in good performances, which makes it hard to break through."

  6. Your World Cup goalkeeperspublished at 10:34 GMT

So, according to the thumbs BBC Sport users rank England's goalkeepers' chances of being in the World Cup squad as:

    1. Nick Pope
    2. Dean Henderson
    3. Aaron Ramsdale
    4. James Trafford

And remember, we're not doing a profile on Jordan Pickford because I think pretty much all of us already agree he'll definitely be on the plane.

After watching yesterday’s match it’s obvious to me that Quansah can’t cross a ball; he’s absolutely not a full back, so he should only go if he’s seen by Tuchel as one of the four best available centre backs.

Palmer shouldn't be in the squad because he consistently doesn't show up for England duty. Yes he has a longer term injury now, but September 2024, November 2024, March 2025 and September 2025 he pulled out with injury and played the games after the international breaks.

I'm in charge now, ready for your totally normal takes...

  10. Who makes your squad - Dean Hendersonpublished at 10:17 GMT

Dean Henderson of EnglandImage source, Getty Images
    • England caps: Four (two under Tuchel)
    • How's he done under Tuchel? Henderson has been the only keeper other than Pickford to be used by Tuchel. He kept a clean sheet in their most recent outing against Albania, and seems likely to be second choice for the World Cup as things stand.
    • What about his club form this season? Henderson is first-choice for Crystal Palace, playing all 11 league games. In that time, he's kept five clean sheets, conceding just nine.

Would he make your England World Cup squad? Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no.

  11. Who makes your squad - James Traffordpublished at 10:11 GMT

James Trafford of EnglandImage source, Getty Images
    • England caps: 0
    • How's he done under Tuchel? Trafford wasn't initially included in the most recent squad, however he was given a late call up after Pope was forced to withdraw, suggesting that Tuchel is still keeping an eye on the young shot-stopper.
    • What about his club form this season? Trafford's transfer to Man City hasn't gone to plan, with Donnarumma being favoured ahead of him for the side. Could a potential loan move in January with more minutes promised keep him involved in the England squad?

I want to see Madueke in the final 26. He’s shown when he plays for England he fits the system and he’s a winger who will go at players. Having him as one of Tuchel's ‘finishers’ and running at tired legs would be ideal

  14. Who makes your squad - Aaron Ramsdalepublished at 09:58 GMT

Aaron Ramsdale for NewcastleImage source, Getty Images
    • England caps: five (zero under Tuchel)
    • How's he done under Tuchel: Ramsdale wasn't selected in the most recent England squad, and wasn't even chosen as a replacement when Nick Pope was forced to withdraw.
    • Club form this season: Ramsdale has struggled for game time at Newcastle this season, making just three appearances - one of those to replace an injured Pope in the Premier League. His two other appearances have come in the EFL Cup, in which Newcastle have a quarter-final tie to play against Fulham in December.

Would he make your England World Cup squad? Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no.

  15. Who makes your squad - Nick Popepublished at 09:52 GMT

    Nick PopeImage source, Getty Images
    • England caps: 10
    • How has he done under Tuchel? Hasn't made an appearance under Tuchel. He was included in the most recent squad, but was forced to withdraw due to concussion
    • What about his club form this season? He has been preferred to Aaron Ramsdale by Eddie Howe so far this season, making 15 appearances across all competitions. Despite Newcastle struggling for form in the league, Pope has kept five clean sheets from 11 games in the competition, conceding 12.

David dropping his full 26 there. Love the commitment.

No Trent Alexander-Arnold or Ollie Watkins I see but a recall for Ivan Toney in the forwards.

    What do we reckon?

While you all mull over David's selection, we'll get into the thumb polls - starting with goalkeepers and moving up the field.

Nb: The early "bankers" we mentioned like Jordan Pickford won't be included in the vote.

I would love to see Grealish in the squad over Foden. I’ve always seen him as a maverick and reminiscent of Gascoigne. Additionally, we all know that if Palmer is fit he starts at the expense of someone like Rogers.

Harry Kane's double against Albania means England have scored in 20 matches in a row.

The current run, during which England have amassed 48 goals, started with Jude Bellingham's overhead kick to equalise in stoppage time against Slovakia at Euro 2024.

It is the third-longest scoring sequence in history by England's men. The top two streaks of 52 and 32 games in the late 19th and early 20th centuries were split by a single goalless draw away to Wales in March 1902.

From what I've seen, we need players such as O'Reilly, Anderson and Eze. O'Reilly plays with a confidence beyond his years and there's not many other shoe-ins for that position, Elliot is physical as well as an eye for passes and Eze is just such a brilliant finisher opposite Saka.
