    Walsall 0-0 Grimsby

Grimsby have an early chance when Denver Hume takes aim and see his shot deflected out for the first corner.

Hume delivers and the ball finds itself loose for anyone's feet to pick up.

A rush to get to the ball sees Walsall victorious and the home side clear away the early danger.

    AFC Wimbledon 0-0 Notts County

The Dons and the Magpies will be desperate for the three points today in their bid for automatic promotion after a badly-timed run of modest form.

Both sides have won just one of their last five. The hosts are looking to avoid three straight defeats for the first time this season.

First sight of goal goes to the hosts as Alistair Smith has a free header on the edge of the six-yard box.

He flicks James Tilley's cross wide of the left-hand post. Early warning for the Magpies.

  3. Postpublished at 12:34 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    Stockport 0-0 Charlton

Josh Edwards' hopeful ball down the Charlton left sends Miles Leaburn through on goal but he can't quite bring the ball under his spell and eventually slashes off target inside the box under pressure from the recovering Ethan Pye.

  4. 'That just shows how far we have come in a year' - Artellpublished at 12:33 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    Walsall 0-0 Grimsby

    Grimsby Town

Grimsby head coach David Artell speaking to BBC Radio Humberside, following his League Two Manager of the Month nomination:

"There is never one single thing, like there is never one single thing if you have a poor month or game. There tends to be lots of little micro-events that lead to these things.

"The one thing as a general rule of thumb is to increase belief, increase understanding and the lads deserve huge amounts of credit for their development and for getting better at the way we want to play.

"That is done through consistency. The consistency in performance, consistency in results and the individual performances.

"So when we only get a draw against Tranmere, we are not disappointed. That just shows how far we have come in a year. So, for all those things the players deserve a huge amount of credit - it is never about me."

  5. Postpublished at 12:33 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    Stockport 0-0 Charlton

Bright start from the hosts in the bright sunshine as Tanto Olaofe almost jinks his way in down the left of the Addicks box, only for Kayne Ramsay to make a last-ditch challenge to turn the ball behind for a corner, which comes to nought...

    Walsall v Grimsby (12:30 GMT)

Today is International Women's Day and to honour women in football, clubs across the country will be taking part in the Her Game Too campaign.

Her Game Too is aimed at raising awareness of sexism within football to create a safe and welcoming space for women and girls to enjoy the highs and lows of a live game.

Bescot Stadium is one of those participating and today have an exclusively female line-up of flag bearers and ball assistants, while they are also currently displaying photos of some of their female fans on the scoreboard.

Mat Sadler makes two changes from the Walsall side that drew to bottom side Carlisle last time out.

Jamille Matt has been battling an illness in the week but makes it to the bench, while Ellis Harrison replaces him up top.

Harry Williams is back into the starting line-up after four games left on the substitute bench.

David Okagbue makes a move right to accommodate with Oisin McEntee available as a sub.

It could be a first sighting of January signing Geza David Turi for Grimsby fans as he makes the match day squad for the first time.

He's available as substitute as boss David Artell makes three changes.

Lewis Cass makes a return and is straight into the starting line-up, having played just one minute in his only outing in the past five games.

Kieran Green and Evan Khouri are the other two to join the XI, while Curtis Thompson is on the bench.

Doug Tharme and Justin Obikwu don't make the trip.

  9. Walsall look to keep top spotpublished at 12:26 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    Walsall v Grimsby (12:30 GMT)

At the end of 2024, it seemed Walsall had not just promotion but the League Two title in their hands.

They were double digits above their rivals, soaring triumphantly into League One, but fast forward to today and oh, how things have changed.

Now they are clinging on to top spot by just two points having won only two of their past 10 games.

If they are to hold onto their title position, they either need defeat Grimsby, a team who have not been beaten in their past seven games, or bank on Bradford City losing later on.

But if there's anything the Saddlers don't want to do, it's gift the Bantams an opportunity to go into their match at Gillingham already knowing they could end up unseating the league leaders at the final whistle.

  10. Dons make five changes, four for Nottspublished at 12:24 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

AFC Wimbledon v Notts County (12:30 GMT)

    Wimbledon line-up

Both sides ring the changes after midweek defeats added to their stuttering form.

Johnnie Jackson makes five alterations from the Dons side beaten by Morecambe as Johnson and Furlong drop out and Callum Maycock, Joe Pigott, and Josh Kelly drop to the bench.

In come midfielder James Tilley and forwards Omar Bugiel, Matty Stevens and Marcus Browne, while defender Isaac Ogundere comes in for his 100th Wimbledon appearance.

County boss Stuart Maynard has reacted to the midweek home defeat to Barrow by bringing in four new faces.

Out go defender Lewis Macari, midfielders William Jarvis and Kellan Gordon, and forward Mai Traore, who picked up an injury in Tuesday's outing, and in come Zak Johnson, Jack Hinchy, Nick Tsaroulla and Conor Grant.

  11. A huge game in store as fourth face fifthpublished at 12:22 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

AFC Wimbledon v Notts County (12:30 GMT)

An intriguing clash between two sides whose bids for automatic promotion have hit a bump in the road in recent weeks.

Notts sit fourth but know victory this lunchtime will leapfrog them above Doncaster into the final automatic place on goal difference. Rovers host Swindon at 3pm.

But the Magpies have gone a little quiet after a surge of eight wins from 10.

They’ve won just one of their past five matches, picking up five points, and were beaten at home by struggling Barrow in midweek.

The hosts’ form is, if anything, marginally worse. The Dons are without a win in four, and Tuesday’s 1-0 loss at Morecambe brought them back-to-back league defeats for the first time this season.

The goals have dried up of late for Johnnie Jackson’s side, netting just once in four matches, although the defence are at least holding up their part of the bargain, conceding just three in five.

It's been a long time since League Two has seen a new name at the top but today could be that day.

Walsall will have the first shot at keeping their place at the apex when they host Grimsby Town in the early kick-off.

But if the Mariners take all three points, it will be Bradford City's turn to try and become number one as they visit Gillingham.

Tranmere Rovers will be hoping their winless spell ends today with the relegation threat looming just behind them.

They welcome Bromley this afternoon, while Morecambe take a trip to MK Dons to try and pull themselves out of trouble.

Carlisle, on the other hand, would need to beat Harrogate Town by at least four goals to escape the drop zone but could lift off the bottom if the Shrimps are unsuccessful.

The League One basement-battle and the play-off race collide at the Broadfield Stadium at lunchtime as lowly Crawley welcome upwardly-mobile Reading.

Crawley sit second-bottom, effectively eight points from safety with a dozen games remaining, thanks to their inferior goal difference.

Rob Elliot’s men haven’t kept a clean sheet in seven home games, winning just one of them and taking six points overall.

The Royals are unbeaten in seven and lie two places and four points behind the play-off spots, though do have a game in hand on sixth-placed Huddersfield.

Noel Hunt’s side have conceded only three goals in their past seven League One games and won the reverse fixture 4-1 in October.

Nathan Jones makes one change to the Addicks XI which beat Barnsley 1-0 at The Valley in midweek.

Miles Leaburn is handed a start up top with Matty Godden dropping to the bench.

  18. Play-off rivals lock horns at lunchtimepublished at 12:08 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March

    Stockport v Charlton (12:30 GMT)

You won’t find too many arguments if you said Stockport hosting Charlton this lunchtime was the game of the day in League One.

The fourth-placed Hatters are one place and two points ahead of the Addicks, with both sides in rich form as they chase a place in the play-offs… at least!

Dave Challinor’s men have lost just one of their past 10 league games and have an incredible record at Edgeley Park, winning 16 of their 22 home games over the past 12 months, scoring an average of 1.9 goals per game in the process.

Nathan Jones’ side have won eight of their past 10 games to leap into the play-off places and just love playing on Saturday afternoons, keeping seven clean sheets in their past 11 games on the best day of the week and claiming 19 points overall.

Charlton also boast an impressive record against County, going unbeaten in their past five games, last losing this fixture in 1998.

Wrexham will have the opportunity to grab an automatic promotion spot if they prevail against Rotherham but Wycombe Wanderers falter to Peterborough.

While Bolton Wanderers could get themselves into a play off position if they take victory over Burton Albion.

They could even know their chances before their game even begins, with Charlton Athletic facing Stockport County in the early kick off.

Only Burton Albion can escape the relegation zone today but have a difficult task of hosting a Bolton Wanderers side who are unbeaten in five and defeated league leaders Birmingham City last time out.

Though Bristol Rovers have a similar challenge if they want to take matter into their own hands as they welcome 6th placed Huddersfield Town.
