Aaron Drinan's goal was his eighth of the season for Swindon

Swindon climbed to second place in League Two as first-half goals from Ollie Palmer and leading goalscorer Aaron Drinan sealed victory over Bromley.

Palmer got his first goal for the Wiltshire side in the seventh minute after Ryan Tafazolli began a lovely flowing move which saw the former Wrexham man tuck away Joe Snowdon's cross.

The hosts doubled their lead when Drinan grabbed his eighth goal of the season in the 31st minute following a poor kick from goalkeeper Grant Smith.

The Irishman collected the ball on the halfway line, advanced down the right, held off his marker and blasted a fierce low shot past the hapless Smith, who should have done better at the near post.

At the other end Bromley's Deji Elerewe went close with a header from Mitch Pinnock's free-kick.

After the break Danny Butterworth had a golden opportunity to make it three following another gift at the back but the winger stumbled trying to round Smith and prodded the ball to Drinan, whose effort was blocked.

Finley Munroe found the striker with a lovely cross but Drinan's effort was blocked by Smith, before Bromley's Ben Krauhaus fired just wide.
