The difference between the two clubs today is in the final third.

Leeds, when they got half a chance, they took it. It's fine margins. Sheffield Wednesday were not outplayed or outclassed.

Apart form the final third they have been brilliant, but they never looked like they were going to score.

They haven't got that proven goalscorer and that's why they are not in that top six or seven. They don't create enough.

Wednesday competed unbelievably well. For long spells they were the better side.

    FT: Leeds 3-0 Sheff Wed

    Aidy White
Former Leeds United full-back on BBC Radio Leeds

Leeds came out in the first half and showed a good level of control, they could have created a few more chances but overall really good.

Wednesday changed their shape and looked promising in the second half but Leeds put on a professional display in the end and showed their class.

The replays of that Ao Tanaka goal drew pleasing "Ooohs" from the home support.

The Japanese midfielder has been a star since his summer arrival and barely put a foot wrong all afternoon.

Not sure 3-0 quite reflects the balance of play but Leeds absolutely did what champions do today.

They took their chances when they had them and reduced their opponents to precious little.

Sheffield Wednesday's difficult week, after owner Dejphon Chansiri's comments about a breakdown in his relationship with popular boss Danny Rohl, comes to a bad end.

  6. 'You can't ask any more from the players'published at 14:02 Greenwich Mean Time

    John Pearson
Former Sheffield Wednesday forward on BBC Radio Sheffield

Wednesday played really well and they did not deserve to lose like that.

Leeds were patient and caused problems but I think Wednesday did the best they can. You can't ask any more from the players this afternoon.

This has not been a 3-0 game, that goal rubs a little bit of salt in the wounds.

A fantastic bit of skill from Tanaka.

Largie Ramazani celebrates scoring Leeds' second goal against Sheffield WednesdayImage source, PA Media

Leeds United are the Kings of Yorkshire, and the Championship, for now...

That's 13 wins and five draws in their past 18 games against Yorkshire sides.

They are Marching On at the top of the Championship, with only 19 games now remaining this season...

They didn't have it all their own way, but such is the strength of their squad Daniel Farke was able to introduce a second-wave of match-winners from the bench to prevent any repeat of the late drama in their most recent league game at Hull City.

A clean sheet for Illan Meslier, and a blow for Wednesday's play-off push, despite having held their own for the vast majority of the match, only being undone at the bookends.

    Lovely finish....

Mateo Joseph nods a deep corner out to Largie Ramazani on the edge of the box. The Belgian's first-time volley flies through a crowd before being met with a cute flick from Ao Tanaka to change its course and send it into the opposite corner past the prone James Beadle.

    Lovely improvisation.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 90+3 mins

    Leeds 2-0 Sheff Wed

Di'Shon Bernard goes into the book for Wednesday after sending Mateo Joseph flying.

The Leeds fans are having a lovely old sing-song now the jeopardy has been taken out of the situation.

  13. Postpublished at 90+1 min

    Leeds 2-0 Sheff Wed

Looks like it might be a third straight 2-0 win for Leeds in this fixture and the first time they have won three straight since April 2000, which apparently is nearly 25 years ago, which seems unlikely to me...

  14. 'Individual brilliance from Ramazani'published at 13:49 Greenwich Mean Time

A lovely little bit of individual brilliance from Ramazani.

He jolts to the left and to the right and manages to get his shot off and it is a great finish.

We needed the individual skill because it looked like things were only going one way in this half.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 90 mins

    Leeds 2-0 Sheff Wed

Brenden Aaronson is hobbling off with Josuah Guilavogui coming on for the final knockings... Daniel Farke won't want him crocked.

    That'll do it!

One goal three minutes in and one goal two minutes from the end.

Leeds haven't been brilliant either side but they've done enough today and they'll be ending the weekend top of the Championship.

    Game over!

We said Largie Ramazani was a handy name to come off the bench...

He collects Jayden Bogle's square pass in the area, jinks one way, then another, works some space before lashing a low shot from the edge of the box through the legs of a defender and low into the far corner past James Beadle's left hand,

    Clinical finish.

    Leeds are back on top.

  18. CLOSE!published at 87 mins

    Leeds 1-0 Sheff Wed

Wow. Yan Valery dashes to the near post to meet Shea Charles' header with a glancing header but his effort flashes across the face of goal, with Ike Ugbo unable to get a decisive touch in the goalmouth.

  19. Postpublished at 86 mins

    Leeds 1-0 Sheff Wed

Callum Paterson's long throw from the Owls right ends up with the visitors winning a corner.

Shea Charles' corner is met by Di'Shon Bernard, though his header is off target, before Djeidi Gassama's curling cross is turned behind by Ethan Ampadu for another set-piece.

  20. 'This has turned into a very good game'published at 13:42 Greenwich Mean Time

    Leeds 1-0 Sheff Wed

    John Pearson
Former Sheffield Wednesday forward on BBC Radio Sheffield

We have had a number of occasions today where Wednesday have cut Leeds open but that final ball is just poor. That is the difference between the two sides.

We saw it in the first half when Ingelsson was through and we have just seen it again with Yan Valery.

It is promising as this has turned into a very good game in the last 10 minutes.
