A glorious day here in Madrid. Warm and sunny. Conditions will be perfect at Santiago Bernabeu tonight and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admits his side will have to deliver a "perfect" performance to overturn a 3-2 deficit from the first leg against Real Madrid.

Guardiola and midfielder Bernardo Silva addressed the media last night and were under no illusions about the position City have left themselves in.

The word "believe" was used often and Guardiola said City will go for goals - but will that be right away or will they adopt an initial strategy of just staying in the tie?

    Big night ahead.

The good news for Bayern - and England - is that the injury is not thought to be too serious.

  16. 'Dembele has never lacked confidence'published at 11:18 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February

    PSG v Brest (Agg: 3-0, 20:00 GMT)

    Guillem Balague
    Spanish football journalist

Ousmane Dembele has never lacked confidence, is super-passionate about football and arrived in Paris in August 2023 convinced of his ability to star and succeed at the club, despite the presence at the time of Kylian Mbappe.

Last summer, manager Luis Enrique told Dembele that, without Mbappe in the team, he needed more goals from him to go with his large number of assists - carte blanche for the player to show a more selfish approach with less passing and a bigger desire to score.

In private, the coaching staff have frequently told him that if he managed to convert a decent percentage of the chances that he creates, it can lead to collective success and then individual honours. The Ballon d'Or even.

In August 2023, Ousmane Dembele was bought by Paris St-Germain for just £43.5m, having scored 40 goals in 185 games and won three La Liga titles.

Now - with 10 goals in his past five games - he is currently Europe's most in-form striker, drawing comparison to the likes of Lionel Messi, who scored 13 goals in four games in March 2012, and Cristiano Ronaldo, who hit 11 goals in four games in May 2011.

He is also being seen as PSG's trump card in their quest for a first Champions League trophy.

The 27-year-old has scored 18 goals in his past 11 appearances for PSG in all competitions and since the start of December, has scored more goals(18) than any other player in the big five European leagues.

Away from Real Madrid v Manchester City, there are three other Champions League play-off matches coming up tonight.

Borussia Dortmund host Sporting at 17.45 GMT, with the Bundesliga side firmly in control having won 3-0 in Lisbon last week.

At 20.00 GMT, PSV host Juventus with the Turin club leading 2-1 and aiming to defend that advantage in Eindhoven.

And there is an all-Ligue 1 clash between PSG and Brest. The Parisians are well in control after winning the first leg 3-0 - and they have arguably Europe's most in-form player in their ranks.

Ousmane Dembele's start to 2025 has been nothing short of magnificent, as he looks to finally be delivering on long-promised potential. Guillem Balague has more...
