Callum Stead struck twice as Barnet made it nine straight National League wins and maintained their 11-point lead at the top by defeating Gateshead at The Hive.

Myles Kenlock gave the Bees an early lead, cutting in from the left and rifling a fine finish into the top corner before Stead's 14th goal of the season put Dean Brennan's side 2-0 up at half-time.

Barnet piled on the pressure after the restart. Stead twice went close to adding his second of the match and Ryan Glover's effort from outside the box was deflected for a corner.

Gateshead ensured a nervy ending when Jovan Malcom reduced the deficit with seven minutes remaining, but the Bees had the last word as Stead's solo effort in the closing moments made it 3-1.
