Wrexham could open up a six-point lead on Wycombe in the automatic promotion spots if they beat Burton Albion this lunchtime, and the Chairboys lose at Reading.

At the other end, the Brewers could climb out of the relegation zone for the first time since September with victory - having been 11 points adrift at the turn of the year - and move above Bristol Rovers before the Gas look to end a run of four straight defeats at Bolton later today.

The Royals will be hoping to move into the play-off positions and only need a point to do so against Wycombe, who could move second if they win and Wrexham suffer defeat.

Plenty of permutations to wrap your head around, but one thing that is straightforward is that today is vital.

  2. 'Pivotal day for Walsall'published at 12:13 British Summer Time 5 April

Walsall v Port Vale (12:30 GMT)

    Andrew Dawkins
    BBC Radio WM commentator

To quote Mat Sadler's own words, "he doesn't get too high and he doesn't get too low" as a manager.

He is trying to say again that it is all about the next game and he has said that the mood hasn't changed, and it is still a very bouncy and confident place behind the scenes.

It all depends how you look at it, a half glass full or half empty. As two wins in 15 is poor a record, but they have managed four consecutive draws and two decent draws in their last two games against good opposition.

The fitness and athleticism they have has brought them more late goals than any other team in League Two.

It does feel pivotal today - win and it will be huge, lose and psychologically they will lose the top spot for the first time in months.

  3. Vale seek vengeance at the Bescotpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 5 April

Could this be the biggest game of the weekend?

Long time league leaders Walsall have endured their eight game winless run and remained on top but to do so today, they need to make sure they aren't on the losing end.

Today they host Port Vale, the team who actually lost their seat at the apex after a 1-0 loss to the Saddlers in the reverse fixture.

The Valiants will be looking for divine retribution and if they find it, they will topple Walsall off the number one spot and hold it... at least until Bradford City kick off later this afternoon for their own chance at glory.

Huge game, massive consequences - but will we see a big performance from either team?

  4. In-form Chesterfield look to extend run against Tranmerepublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 5 April

A rare lunchtime kick off these two in stunning April conditions on Merseyside.

Relegation-threatened Tranmere Rovers sit just one point above the two-berth drop zone with the second worst goal difference in League Two.

But they have won each of their last two home league games and will be looking to win three in succession for the first time since March last year.

Chesterfield sit 10th with a game in hand on eight of the nine sides above them.

Tranmere have won each of their last four home league games against Chesterfield, keeping a clean sheet in three of those victories.

The Spireites have won each of their last two league games against Rovers and could today make that three in succession for the first time since April 1985.

Chesterfield have won each of their last three away league games and will be looking to win four in succession on the road in the EFL for the first time since August 2014.

    Cheltenham v Doncaster (12:30 BST)

Fifth-placed Doncaster head to the Spa town of Cheltenham with a chance to gain ground into the automatic promotion places, still with a game in hand over the four sides above them.

On Tuesday night, Grant McCann’s side were minutes away from a huge win over league leaders Walsall but conceded in stoppage time to share the spoils at 2-2.

Cheltenham have little to play for bar pride in mid-table, but having lost successive home league games are now looking to avoid suffering a consecutive trio of defeats in the fourth tier for the first time since September 2018 (five in a row).

The Robins have not actually won on home soil since that dramatic comeback against Barrow in mid-February.

Rovers lost on their last visit to the EV Charger Points Stadium in March 2022 4-0, that's more goals than they conceded in total across their first four away league games against the Robins (three).

  6. Can Walsall make it to day 120 at the top?published at 12:05 British Summer Time 5 April

It's all eyes on the top of League Two from the very first kick-off today as third placed Port Vale visit league leaders Walsall at 12:30 BST.

For 119 days, the Saddlers have reigned supreme over the fourth division but a win for Valiants would see them topple their hosts.

Though if either Vale win or it ends in a draw, the drama won't be over as Bradford City visit Crewe Alexandra for their opportunity to take a seat at the top.

While down at the bottom, the basement two will be staying there no matter the outcome but things could start to look interesting should Tranmere not take any points at home to Chesterfield.

Fail to do so and, given Morecambe prevail over Grimsby, they could find themselves within one point of dropping into the drop zone.
