Is anyone else reminded of that episode of The Simpsons about Homer's sandwich?

Flew over from New York to watch history being made. The Geordies were incredible, amazing vibe and got to see us win the ultimate prize - SILVERWARE!

Newcastle's improvement under Eddie Howe skyrocketed after his arrival in 2021 and in his first full season, he led them to a fourth-place finish and a return to the Champions League.
He has been helped by the backing of the club's owners, however, who have supported him significantly since their takeover just prior to his appointment.
The Magpies have spent £380m since Howe's first transfer window in January 2022 and plenty of big names have arrived through the door.
A club record £63m was spent on Swedish striker Alexander Isak from La Liga side Real Sociedad, while £55m and £45m was spent to bring the likes of Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon to St James' Park.
The most recent summer transfer window is the quietest the club have had since Howe's arrival due to PSR restrictions and certain players such as Elliott Anderson and Yankuba Minteh were forced to leave to balance the books.
I understand this live has gone slightly west. I think editor Murray is going to send me for a walk imminently...
There is still plenty of news to bring you today and we'll take a look at what went so badly wrong for Liverpool shortly (but keep the pics coming he can't stop them all).
Look at the intensity on that first pooch. Must have been taken during the VAR check on Chiesa's late goal.

Bruno Guimaraes: 'We did this for the fans. They deserve it'.
Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes says winning the Carabao Cup was "one of the best days of my life" after his side won their first major trophy in 56 years, beating Liverpool 2-1 at Wembley.
What about a cat pic? How Tilly managed to sleep through that game is beyond me. HWTL.

Newcastle United's Dan Burn received an emotional letter from his father in 2023 ahead of their Carabao Cup final against Manchester United.
The letter is penned by an emotional but a proud father who writes about Burn's first ever time at Wembley in 2000 and his rise to success from Yeovil Town to Newcastle United.
Burn's father also writes about the time when The Magpies came under new ownership in 2021 and the defender thought his chance to play for the Geordies came to an end. But Newcastle went after the newly-named England international and Burn realised his childhood dream come true.
Whilst the cup final in 2023 ended in bitter disappointment, Burn and Newcastle returned to Wembley two years later and beat Liverpool with the towering defender opening the scoring and securing the Man Of The Match award as well.
The letter was produced as part of the campaign by The Athletic in 2023 and was widely circulated in social media at the time.

Neil D: John @ 10:55 - Your dog on the right seems a lot happier than the one on the left. Did he have a 10 sausages to 1 bet on Newcastle to win?
Who knew that so many of our canine friends were rooting for the Toon Army?

Liverpool 1-2 Newcastle
Newcastle United players can be seen being greeted by former Magpies striker Andy Carroll after they picked up the trophy and their respective winners medal.
The former England international had close interactions with the likes of Callum Wilson, Nick Pope and Joelinton.
He also famously made a £35m move from Newcastle to Liverpool in January 2011 which made him the most expensive British footballer at the time.

Isacc Hayden on Newcastle being an attractive club for players: "I think Bruno [Guimaraes] proved that when he came from Lyon. We were in a relegation battle and he completely transformed how we played, and pushed us up the table. I think it's difficult with Financial Fair Play, it's been heavily documented with the club and the situation surrounding that but I think that the club are clearing it up.
"Unfortunately, that had to sell [Elliott] Anderson and [Yankuba] Mintah last summer but this summer with a clean bill of FFP health, they can make some new singings and freshen the group up a bit. They can push on, and there is no reason why we can't be in the same bracket of as an Arsenal or Chelsea."
Even the dogs are supporters

I think if you're an onlooking player who's potentially looking for a new club in the summer and you look at this fan base, you look at the manager and the style of play and the quality of players in the squad, you cannot help but be drawn to it. And that is a magnificent statement from Newcastle to move themselves forward now.
Any marmalade sandwiches under that bucket hat, Paddington?
