Arsenal are in advanced talks with Bayer Leverkusen over interest in defender Piero Hincapie but a successful transfer hinges on the Premier League club selling ahead of the transfer deadline.
With Monday’s 7pm cut-off looming, the Gunners want to add left-sided defender Hincapie to their squad. Multiple sources have indicated an agreement between Arsenal and Leverkusen for the Ecuador international, who has a £52million release clause, is now close while Hincapie wants to join the Emirates Stadium club.
But whether the deal can be sanctioned is likely to be dependent on whether Arsenal can sell players ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.
Porto and Arsenal are in talks over a move for Jakub Kiwior moving to Portugal. Hincapie is viewed as a direct replacement for Kiwior in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
There is interest in attacker Reiss Nelson, who has suitors from across Europe. Fulham have approached the Gunners over Nelson but the Cottagers are reluctant to sign the winger on a permanent deal or a loan with an obligation.
Oleksandr Zinchenko, Albert Lokonga and Fabio Vieira – who has interest from Stuttgart - can also leave this month. Arsenal are mindful of complying with Uefa’s squad cost ratio regulations and want to ensure players are sold before executing their interest in Hincapie.
We'll be hearing from Mikel Arteta later this afternoon.
But first, an update on the Gunners' transfer plans heading into the final days of the window...
Wolves v Everton (Sat, 15:00 BST)
Everton boss David Moyes on Harrison Armstrong: "A loan is there if we want to. He played really well in midweek and showed he has potential to be a future Everton player. But are we going to give him enough games between now and January? Remember we lose a few to the Africa Cup of Nations. So it is something we are looking at, but we are really pleased with how he is coming on."
On future of Youssef Chermiti: "I think there is a good chance of him going on loan."
Wolves v Everton (Sat, 15:00 BST)
Everton boss David Moyes on fitness of Vitaliy Mykolenko and Adam Aznou: "I hope [he is ready to go]. It was good to get Mykolenko back as we have been short in that area. Adam still has a little bit of a problem with his ankle. He is back doing a little bit of training but we just need to monitor it and see how he is."
Wolves v Everton (Sat, 15:00 BST)
Everton boss David Moyes on whether this has been one of his toughest summers: "I think it has. Since we beat Newcastle on the last game of the season I have been working on recruitment and found it a really difficult summer. We have had a lot of players who have chosen not to come and we have had to work really hard to get enough players in.
"Our squad numbers are small. But if things change before Monday then that would be good."
Wolves v Everton (Sat, 15:00 BST)
Everton boss David Moyes on Jack Grealish: "I'm really pleased because he is a real talent and someone we hope we can get back to the levels he has produced over many years. I hope he can build on it, continue get fitter and continue to keep playing regularly."
That's your fill from Eddie Howe.
Now all the latest from Everton boss David Moyes after an encouraging week for the Toffees.
Leeds v Newcastle (Sat, 17:30 BST)
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe on the future of Alexander Isak: "It's difficult for me to give you any sort of clarity on the future. I've said before, I don't know what the future holds in that respect because I'm not involved with it myself. I've got no update and I'm just focusing on bringing players into the club."
Leeds v Newcastle (Sat, 17:30 BST)
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe on the injuries to Joelinton and Sandro Tonali: "Relatively good news on both players. When they left the pitch [against Liverpool] we feared they'd be out long term because it didn't look good for either but Joelinton's scan was relatively good - he will miss this weekend but there's a chance he could be available the other side of the international break.
"Similar for Tonali, I think his injury isn't serious, he's battling trying to be fit for tomorrow but whether he will make it I'm not sure. But really positive signs because we thought we'd be losing them for longer."
Leeds v Newcastle (Sat, 17:30 BST)
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe on facing Leeds on Saturday evening: "I think every time we've been to Elland Road we've experienced the atmosphere and the feeling in the stadium that the Leeds supporters try to create. I think it's a very strong home support so we know the start of the game is going to be really important for us.
"Against Everton they played very, very well and even early parts of the Arsenal game I thought they were strong. They've invested well, they've got some good players and Daniel [Farke] has done well there."
Leeds v Newcastle (Sat, 17:30 BST)
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe on forward Will Osula: "I thought Will did really well when he came on on Monday night. He gave us renewed energy, he has improved a lot from this time last year. He has gained the knowledge and experience of how we play, he is gaining in confidence and that goal will do him the world of good."
Leeds v Newcastle (Sat, 17:30 BST)
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe on the move for Nick Woltemade: "Not too much [to say] but positive signs, I think things are moving and developing in good way at the moment. Can't confirm anything but fingers crossed."
On whether the striker could be registered in time for Saturday's match against Leeds: "I don't think that's possible, due to lots of reasons I don't understand. The most important thing is that we try and bring a centre-forward in, that's what we've been working towards all summer so hopefully we're getting closer."
Leeds v Newcastle (Sat, 17:30 BST)
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe on their Champions League draw: "A really interesting draw, some great games and exciting prospects. You look at the ties and you start to visualise the games and how tough they'll be but how exciting they are. The group we had last time was difficult, the games we have this time are tough and challenging but great to look forward to."

This morning marks Eddie Howe’s final pre-match news conference before the window shuts. You suspect the Newcastle United head coach will be delighted about that.
But the mood on Tyneside has shifted in the last 24 hours.
There is sure to be a flurry of questions about Alexander Isak once again, and whether the wantaway striker could leave in the coming days, but the Newcastle head coach will also be quizzed about Nick Woltemade.
The Germany international touched down on Tyneside last night and is set to undergo a medical today ahead of completing his club-record move to St James’ Park.
Expect Howe to be asked about the possibility of another centre-forward arriving before the close of business on Monday.
Howe will also give injury updates on Sandro Tonali, Joelinton and Fabian Schar before potentially having to make a series of enforced changes against Leeds United.

Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade in a move that could have a huge impact on Liverpool's pursuit of Alexander Isak.
The Germany international, 23, is understood to be en route to Tyneside after a deal was struck with the Bundesliga side.
Woltemade, who has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich this summer, will undergo a medical ahead of completing a move to St James' Park.
There is no confirmation of the fee, but a source suggested it would constitute a club record after Newcastle previously spent £63m to make Isak the most expensive player in their history three years ago when he arrived from Real Sociedad.
Isak, of course, remains determined to join Liverpool and Woltemade's move could yet give the champions encouragement to return to the table in the final days of the window after having a £110m bid rejected last month.
Right, Slot's done and dusted.
Next up? Newcastle boss Eddie Howe.
Liverpool v Arsenal (Sun, 16:30 BST)
Liverpool boss Arne Slot on the impact of Rio Ngumoha: "It is the beauty of football that although we have spent a lot there is still room for him and he can show his quality. As things stand there is still room for him to show that in the upcoming game as well. So I think he will be on the bench and has a fair chance of coming in if needed."
Liverpool v Arsenal (Sun, 16:30 BST)
Liverpool boss Arne Slot on team news: "Conor Bradley has trained all this week. [Alexis] Mac Allister has also started training again. I don't think we had any injuries [after Newcastle]/ Virgil [van Dijk] is also ok, that is the main thing."
Liverpool v Arsenal (Sun, 16:30 BST)
Liverpool boss Arne Slot on Hugo Ekitike (who joined from Eintracht Frankfurt for £69m): "He has made a big impact on our attacking, not just scoring goals but starting attacks. That is a bit more than last season. The most simple answer to what he can improve is his match fitness. So I expect him to do a lot more off the ball. But that is normal as he had to adjust to a different league and playing style. He also came a bit later in pre-season so has had to adapt to the intensity levels without the ball, they are the small steps to take."
