Good to see Liverpool have worked on the tactical approach needed to play against the man marking system. It has worked to some extent but you still need quality from individual players in key moments and Jones, Gakpo and Szoboszlai are just not there. Add in Salah’s lack of form and it is likely to be an early night.

Chris: A good first half, an improvement on previous matches. A massive chance once again for Salah, missed. Think we may need three goals in the second half to take it to extra-time.

Villa and Argentina fans won’t care a hoot, but Martinez complete disrespect for his opponents at penalties is disgusting. This whole win at all costs mentality is not what the game needs.

Leverkusen's dream of a fully invincible season is looking more and more unlikely the more this match goes on.

David Moyes will be delighted with that first-half performance.

West Ham have largely dominated and could have had the second goal to level the tie up.

Bayer Leverkusen have had one decent opportunity of note.

The worry is the visitors must surely improve after the interval.

What Jurgen Klopp would have wanted more than everything was a Jurgen performance and you look at the last couple of games it that has not been Klopp's Liverpool team.

One thing he will say is 'clean up those sloppy passes'.

Aaron Cresswell's wide free-kick is a poor one, and goes straight out of play for a goal kick.

Nayef Aguerd is down again. He can't continue, surely.

That miss from Salah is the pivotal point in this tie I believe. If it goes in Liverpool go through.
