Southampton manager Will Still applauds the fansImage source, PA Media

Southampton boss Will Still speaking to Sky Sports:

"It's a point. If you can't win those games, you try not to lose them.

"The frustrating part is we gifted that first goal. We have to rub that out of our game but we showed the grit to come back.

"The first half was positive but we ran out of steam in the second half.

"We play that game last year, we crumble... it's building blocks. We are taking it step-by-step."

Southampton midfielder Flynn Downes, a former Ipswich player, speaking to Sky Sports:

"It's a tough place to come. The atmosphere, everything about it.

"It's a weird feeling [coming back]. It brings back a few memories but happy with our performance.

"You can see what we are trying. More direct, trying to put more runs in behind."

    On Jay Robinson:

"He's been unreal. Everyone can see his talent but off the ball as well, you can see his hard work and he's humble."

  3. 'Fair result'published at 14:15 British Summer Time

    Jo Tessem
Ex-Southampton midfielder on BBC Radio Solent

Ipswich created us a lot of problems and if they had more quality they would have punished us.

I think overall it was a fair result.

Southampton fan here. Any point away from home in the Championship is hugely valuable. Even more so against a team who were a far superior Premier League team to us last year. Unbeaten start in the league and League Cup to Will Still's tenure as manager, I'll take that for today!

  5. 'An improvement for Ipswich'published at 14:10 British Summer Time

    Ipswich 1-1 Southampton

    Mick Mills
Former Ipswich and England captain on BBC Radio Suffolk

Ipswich looked the stronger team. It was an improvement from the Birmingham game. We are okay down the flanks, the centre halves are beginning to come together.

But they do lack quality, the central midfielders don’t allow you to progress the game how you want it to. That has to improve.

  6. 'We lack in the goals department'published at 14:06 British Summer Time

    Ipswich 1-1 Southampton

    Jo Tessem
Ex-Southampton midfielder on BBC Radio Solent

We needed something more. We made too many mistakes and we were relying on Ryan Fraser. We haven’t got the quality to create things. Adam Armstrong had a tough game.

Ipswich were slightly more aggressive but we lack in the goals department and that is the toughest department to fix.

  7. 'Both teams lacking quality'published at 14:03 British Summer Time

    Ipswich 1-1 Southampton

    Adam Blackmore
    BBC Radio Solent sports editor

The two big teams have gone toe to toe. They created a lot mistakes and also a lot of big moments.

Both teams lacking quality. What has been a tough start on paper for Saints though has ended with four points.

Ipswich and Southampton share the spoils in the first battle between relegated sides this season.

Southampton showed some defensive frailties, encapsulated by an own goal from a rusty Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

Ipswich, though, made their own errors and neither side could really get a foothold into the game.

  10. Postpublished at 94 mins

    Ipswich 1-1 Southampton

Not long left on the clock now.

There's some needle as Ashley Young squares up to Southampton's Shea Charles but they won't need to share the pitch for long.

The game is all but done at this point.

  11. Postpublished at 92 mins

    Ipswich 1-1 Southampton

Ipswich's Conor Chaplin gets his footwork all right to nod home a cross but his jumping header is all wrong.

He can't connect well and it just goes flying above the bar.

  12. INJURY TIMEpublished at 90 mins

    Ipswich 1-1 Southampton

There's five more minutes left in this one.

This half has lacked sting but we all know Southampton can cause some damage in added time.

Ipswich aren't too shabby themselves. In fact, they topped the chart for late goals in their last season in the Championship.

  13. Postpublished at 89 mins

    Ipswich 1-1 Southampton

Conor Chaplin has the foresight to provide a brilliant pass to Chiedozie Ogbene, who then squares it off to a teammate but Saints defender Jack Stephens puts in a vital block to deny the shot.

The follow-up strike from Chaplin goes out of play and the forwards gorgeous work to begin the move goes to waste.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 86 mins

    Ipswich 1-1 Southampton

The highly experienced Ashley Young - aged 40, can you believe? - is brought on to see this game to its end.

He replaces Ben Johnson while Cameron Humphreys is on for Azor Matusiwa.

  15. 'Round of applause for Dibling'published at 13:46 British Summer Time

    Ipswich 1-1 Southampton

    Adam Blackmore
    BBC Radio Solent sports editor

Tyler Dibling on. The reaction you ask? He gets a warm round of applause from the Saints fans.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 83 mins

    Ipswich 1-1 Southampton

    Here comes Tyler Dibling.

The Saints winger was linked with a move to Premier League side Everton but that didn't materialise so he's ready to make his first league appearance this season as he replaces Adam Armstrong.

Who would have thought it, a tight game between Ipswich and Southampton? These games are always evenly matched.

  20. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 73 mins

    Ipswich 1-1 Southampton

Jack Stephens sends a dreadful back header over to his keeper Gavin Bazunu and the stopper ends up colliding with Ipswich's Sammie Szmodics in the panic to collect.

The keeper does get his gloves on the ball before Szomdics bangs into him so no penalty.

Close call though. Saints boss Will Still will not like to see that again.
