Joe and Ben in the Live Text starting line up, you love to see it. It'll be interesting to see how hard the Club World Cup teams' first five fixtures are, those un-rested legs could be early weak spots for City and Chelsea.

I can imagine the behind the scenes mayhem around the country with Premier league team managers and board staff anxiously waiting for the fixtures at their training grounds or offices somewhere except Arne Slot, he’s still on an Ibiza dance floor.

Always thought it’d make a nice tradition for the Premier League winner to play the Championship winner as the opening match. Hoping Liverpool start at Leeds to set the tone for a great season.

As for San Siro tour pics - I mean they're not really that exciting, my phone camera isn't great. You'll all be very disappointed.

I'll post them if I get 100 thumbs up.

Pre-fixture announcement nerves. Are we sliding into game's gone territory? Or are there more of you with opening day anxiety?

I was in a pub in Howth, near Dublin, watching the Liverpool-Arsenal game in 2010. It was a stupendously hot day and that's my main memory, but have just refreshed my memory of Pepe Reina shovelling the ball into his own net for an agonising OG and a 1-1 draw.

My favourite opening day moment has to be Brentford’s opening day win over Arsenal in 2021. As a Brentford fan, it was all I could ever dream for. Magical.

  11. When was the last time promoted teams faced off on the opening day?published at 08:19 British Summer Time 18 June

It's taken me a criminally long time to research this one but, if I'm correct, it looks like the last time two promoted teams faced off on the opening day was August 2004.

Championship champions Norwich City faced play-off winners Crystal Palace at Carrow Road.

1-1 it finished on the day and the scorers were two absolute #Barclaysmen.

Darren Huckerby opened the scoring for the home side before Andy Johnson equalised in the second half for Palace.

    Nostalgia at its finest.

    Morning Joe, Hi Joe....

Got to say, "Oi Joe" is a new one.

But yes, Manchester United against Liverpool, Manchester City or Arsenal are still big games.

Thirty-eight points will probably be enough to survive.

And Southampton fans we'll see you for the FA Cup third round.

Oi Joe, you just know Liverpool’ll be up against some newly promoted team, and Salah’ll bag one—it's nailed on, mate. But what I’d really love is a proper heavyweight clash—something like City vs Liverpool or Arsenal vs United. Not sure if you still consider the United game as a heavy weight clash.

Hi Joe, as a worried West Ham fan can the pre-season be extended as I'm not ready to face anyone or can the league just put us down for 38 draws, that should be enough to survive.

    Thanks Marc, Matt and Rich.

Not a huge amount to tell you about until the fixtures are released at 09:00 BST. So do keep the Get Involveds rolling in.

Oh, also, I have a correction to tell you about. I've been informed by a few of you that Ryan Gravenberch is suspended for one game, not three.

Opening day of the 21/22 season. Man Utd 5-1 Leeds First time stadiums were full again after Covid. Atmosphere was amazing and a Fernandes hat-trick.

Think it will be a tough start for Liverpool, target on our backs, no Gravenberch for first 3 games, bedding in new signings. Need a nice easy start like Man U away…..!
