Charlotte Duncker, football writer from The Times, has been discussing Manchester United's summer transfer business ahead of an expected deal to sign midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking on the Football Daily podcast, Duncker said that despite United's links with interest in Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling and a number of other players, she expects that the Red Devils' summer of spending is now over.

"I would imagine so," said Duncker when asked if that was it for Manchester United's summer spending.

"They’ve been linked with a lot of strikers but having spent £190m, obviously the Scott McTominay sale helps with the PSR sanctions but I can’t imagine they would go out and get a striker now given the calibre of striker they would want to improve their front line, how much they would cost them.

"I would imagine once this deal is done, we might some more outgoings in terms of fringe players, players like Victor Lindelof who is carrying an injury which makes it difficult to get rid of, but he’s surplus to requirements.

"There’s a couple of players that they can look to move it, but I suspect that’s the last one coming in."

Former Manchester United youth team player Ashley Westwood will swap Afghanistan for southern China after he was unveiled on Wednesday as the coach of Hong Kong.

The 47-year-old Englishman took over at Afghanistan in November and won one, drew two and lost three of his six games, the highlight being a 2-1 away win at India in World Cup qualifying.

Westwood also oversaw a 0-0 draw with Asian champions Qatar as Afghanistan narrowly missed out on reaching the next stage of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

"It's a very privileged position, I feel honoured and proud," said Westwood as he was presented as the new boss of Hong Kong, who are ranked 159 in the world.

"I am sure together we can get some success in the future," added Westwood, whose managerial career has also included club jobs in India and Malaysia.

  7. EFL Cup pre-drawpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 28 August

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

There will be two draws around the Carabao Cup third round this evening.

Both will be live on Sky Sports, one before Newcastle's visit to Nottingham Forest, at around 19:25 BST, one after.

The first will be to confirm whether the Champions League or Europa League qualified teams that will be involved in the first six ties will be at home or away.

The precise team will not be known until the draw itself takes place after the game.

Although Manchester United and Tottenham could have played each other and any combination of Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa could have been paired, the EFL felt the method they have chosen was easier for fans to follow and broadcasters to publicise through their graphics.

United and Tottenham must play their games in the week commencing 16 September as they open their respective Europa League campaigns the following week.

That means a clash with the opening round of Champions League fixtures, which will be played between 17-19 September as it is Uefa's designated 'exclusive week' for the competition.

The remaining 14 Carabao Cup ties will be played in the week commencing 23 September, when Europa League games will be played on the Wednesday and Thursday as part of their 'exclusive week'.

We've had an unbelievable transfer window, can we please sign Ugarte and just close up shop for incomings and outgoings? I have no idea why we'd want ANOTHER injury prone full back in Chilwell, nor an almost 30-year old Sterling when we've got so many wingers. Plus it may be ridiculously optimistic but I really hope Sancho stays and reintegrates fully into the squad because he is such a talent!
