An Eilidh Adams hattrick put Hibs back on track after their derby day hammering as Grant Scott’s side cruised to victory at Meadowbank.

The hosts started brightly, with Kathleen McGovern finding the net early on only for the flag to go up for offside.

McGovern came close immediately afterwards, with Spiders keeper Lauren McGregor managing to tip her shot away, but Hibs’ relentless forward wave soon found its mark as Adams drilled home her first after being put through one-on-one against the stopper.

Abbie Ferguson promptly made it 2-0 in almost identical circumstances a minute later, before Adams volleyed home her second with just 17 minutes on the clock.

Craig Joyce’s women struggled to make headway against Hibs, who were looking to make amends for their 4-0 loss to Hearts last weekend.

McGovern got her goal half-way through the first half, capitalising on the rebound after McGregor’s save from a sting Adams shot, to put Hibs in 4-0 up at the break.

Poppy Lawson made it five just after the restart, before Queen’s Park managed to get their consolation goal – Chloe Muir powering home a knock-on from Megan Quigley.

But Hibs wrapped up their win as Adams completed her hat-trick, heading home from a corner at the near post.
