A good rule of thumb is to do the opposite of media pressure. So many "experts" said you can’t sack Ange after he won a trophy. Yes, you can. West Ham have a tough run of fixtures and should stick with Potter for 8-10 games at least.

  6. What has Potter said?published at 11:45 British Summer Time

    West Ham United

Before Friday's 5-1 home defeat by Chelsea, manager Graham Potter said that West Ham have been handicapped due to Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR) and while transfer targets are constantly being considered, he stated the Hammers "have to get more out of the squad and we will look to improve".

Potter said he has always understood this is "a work in progress", stressing the need to "balance expectations with reality" while continuing to work hard and push forward.

He expressed confidence in his players, insisting there is much more to come, but admitted that results ultimately shape the narrative.

"We know we have to do more in terms of results and improve our performance," he added. "The players were gutted after the [Sunderland] game, and there was optimism and positivity, and now it is up to us to react."

Only a non-West Ham fan would repeat the line about Moyes. He was in a rut of untenable, appalling, negative football and had ceased getting results. Relegation will be because Sullivan failed to sort transfer policy or appoint a good successor. Moyes had to go. Ne regrette rien.

    Syd

This is a combination of problems. Moyes had to go, the last year and a half under him was an absolute shambles. Lopetegui was a disaster that nobody wanted and Potter's team line up's and lack of in game management is very poor. The biggest issue of all is Sullivan.

  8. West Ham under Potter - did you know?published at 11:37 British Summer Time

    West Ham United

    • West Ham have conceded eight goals across their first two games of a top-flight campaign for the first time.
    • Graham Potter is the first Hammers boss in Premier League history to fail to earn double-figures points in his first 10 home games - 9 (2 wins, 3 draws, 5 defeats)

That's just a handful of many, many messages coming in dropping the David Moyes card.

Understandably lots of happy Evertonians, too.

Is there any West Ham fan out there that did openly want Moyes out and will admit that they now regret it? Genuinely intrigued.

Think it proves that Moyes should not have been sacked as West Ham Manager he knows the types of players needed, look at the job he's done at Everton again, that was the worst mistake West Ham made.

    Eric, Cumbria

West Ham got rid of Moyes because people didn’t like his brand of football - but it got results. Since then it’s got worse results and is the football ‘sexier’? You reap what you sow Hammers.

And to think West Ham fans wanted Davie Moyes out . Careful what you wish for.

How a reputation can fall so far so quickly! When he was doing so well at Brighton there were many suggesting that he should be the next England manager - now he struggles to hold down a Premier League job. A fickle mistress is football....

    Nigel Reo-Coker
Former West Ham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live Football Daily podcast

It looks very bleak for West Ham right now. Things are looking tough. I think they will be in a relegation battle this season. There was just no fight or togetherness against Chelsea. They looked like a bunch of individuals.

The biggest worry is midfield because they just don't have any legs or dogs of war to win the ball back. They look weak.

They can't get the ball up either because there's no real target man. Recruitment has been a big problem at West Ham for some time now. They have no real direction in what they are trying to build or do.

You can always tell a lot by a managers body language and facial expressions and a couple of times when the cameras panned to him, he looked like he had no idea what to do.

Potter looked lost. I think most West Ham fans will just be happy to see them stay up this season. There is no other ambition than survival in the Premier League.

The problems with this West Ham team far predate Potter , going back to the end of the Moyes era, then Lopetegui. This team has been in decline and needs some new players urgently. Give GP time to turn it around.

    Matt, Godalming

We need to stick with Graham Potter. May mean we go down but we have to think long term and not short term. That said in the short-term we need to ditch 3-5-2 and go back to the traditional 4-5-1 which is what the squad have been bought up playing.

    Jim, Bexley

Potter is doing the best with what he has inherited. if anyone is to blame it is the owners for not backing him.

Graham Potter has struggled to implement his style of football at West Ham

It was a messy night for West Ham United in the Midlands as they fell to a third successive defeat of the new season. The Hammers have conceded 11 goals so far in 2025-26 and Jarrod Bowen’s apology following a confrontation with supporters is the latest sign of a club struggling on and off the pitch.

The overriding concern for West Ham fans is that the warning signs have been there for some time. Since Graham Potter took over on 14 January, the Londoners would be bottom of a Premier League table featuring only the ever-present clubs.

Since the start of March, West Ham have won just two of 13 Premier League matches (D4, L7). They have faced the most shots on target in the top flight this season (12).

The Hammers have also dropped 15 points from winning positions under Potter – the most of any Premier League team during his tenure. Two defeats whilst conceding eight goals constitutes their worst start to a league season since 1954.

West Ham have dropped more points than any other side under Graham Potter

The competition may have changed last night but defensive frailties were once again exposed by conceding twice in the final eight minutes. They shipped three goals to a Wolves side who began this campaign by failing to score in two defeats.

Potter himself has called for unity following Tuesday night’s setback but with a record of just five wins in 22 games at the helm since replacing Lopetegui, time may already be running out to turn his side’s longstanding issues around.

Next up is Nottingham Forest on Sunday – and West Ham haven’t scored a Premier League goal at the City Ground since 1996.

  17. Potter v Lopeteguipublished at 11:01 British Summer Time

    West Ham United

Graham Potter succeeded Julen Lopetegui in January and last night's game at Wolves was his 22nd in charge.

That's the same number his predecessor had before getting sacked, but Lopetegui actually has a better record with the Hammers than Potter.

    Lopetegui's West Ham record:

    • 7 wins
    • 5 draws
    • 10 defeats

    Potter's West Ham record:

    • 5 wins
    • 5 draws
    • 12 defeats

Potter is the problem. We saw it at Chelsea and now West Ham. He has the players at his disposal and is simply unable to get the best out of them. New mangers: potentially Postecoglou, Marco Rose, Edin Terzic?

    Josh

Brighton fan here - West Ham's frustration in Potter's tactics were also seen at Brighton. It's alarming strikers struggle to score under his tactics and his use of wing backs causes wingers to be played out of position. Overall, a lot of possession each game but nothing is achieved from it.

    Alex, Brighton

Potter is the worst manager in the Premier League. Has not got a clue. Chelsea found out he was rubbish after six months and sacked him. He has won five games out of 20. Sack him now before it's too late.
