Potter and the team has to stop with the platitudes. We are playing in the wrong part of the pitch, too many first time passes going astray. Change to back 4, Diouf and Bowen on the wing, Potts in, give young Marshall a shot. It can't be worse.

Stick with Potter, don’t stick with Potter, it doesn't matter as long as Sullivan and Brady continue to ruin the club.

    Duncan

Potter is a symptom of an endemic disease at West Ham. The ownership is top of the list, consistently running the club on the cheap, including never paying for a manager. Removing Potter is necessary but who comes next will be negligently underwhelming.

    Liam

Keep him, get rid of Sullivan and Brady and start running us like a proper football club not the joke that we currently are.

  3. Potter's time in charge of West Hampublished at 10:39 British Summer Time

    Graham PotterImage source, Getty Images

Graham Potter’s time in charge at West Ham has offered little to cheer, with just five wins in 22 matches across all competitions and more defeats than victories.

Aside from the standout 1-0 win over Arsenal in February and a 2-0 triumph against Manchester United in May, it has largely been a period marked by inconsistency, poor results and a negative goal difference.

Below is his record as West Ham manager in all competitions:

    • Matches: 22
    • Won: 5
    • Draw: 5
    • Loss: 12
    • Goals scored: 26
    • Goals conceded: 36

Sadly, whilst we're all aware of the struggles of our lethargic midfield and lack of energy up front and the board's problems, it's clear to note that Potter's horrendous and defensive tactics especially last night have cost us, especially not playing a recognised striker, I think his goose is cooked.

How many managers will we have to go through before our fans realise the issue is with our squad building? Not even Guardiola or Slot could create a working team with no midfielders that can run or pass forwards consistently. Potter's not the problem.

    Wolves 3-2 West Ham

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

It should not look this bleak this early but it is hard to pick out the positives for West Ham.

When Jarrod Bowen walked over to applaud the travelling fans at the final whistle it was a show of support.

Yet stewards then appeared to stop Bowen getting any closer to the supporters as the forward became angry, potentially over something said in the crowd.

What started as a show of unity ended in highlighting the Hammers' fractures and it underlined the tension which has already started to boil over after just three games.

Three defeats, 11 goals conceded and just days of the transfer window left.

The Hammers go to Nottingham Forest on Sunday and Graham Potter needs quick results, especially after being undone in the final 10 minutes.

West Ham’s start to the season has been nothing short of alarming, with back-to-back league losses followed by a Carabao Cup exit compounding a difficult opening spell. Heavy defeats and defensive frailties have left them searching for answers already.

Their results so far are listed below as they look to spark a much-needed turnaround:

    • Sunderland 3-0 West Ham
    • West Ham 1-5 Chelsea
    • Wolves 3-2 West Ham (Carabao Cup)

West Ham boss Graham Potter, speaking after his side's EFL Cup exit at the hands of Wolves:

"We're all in pain so we need everybody to help, we need everybody's support, we need to push forward and on to the next match.

"The team's suffering at the moment, we all are, we're all hurting. I can assure you no-one's happy."

On captain Jarrod Bowen appearing to confront fans after the game:

"I have no idea what was said or anything. Our supporters have been fantastic, they are hurting because of the results we've had and Jarrod obviously cares about the club and the team. It's just an exchange of views by people who care.

"Everyone is hurting, rightly so because we haven't had the results we'd like. Jarrod has been a fantastic captain and servant for the club."

Great to see Rodgers finally outed for the terrible manager he is. His previous success in Scotland came at a time when Aberdeen were his only challengers. Last night, they had 2 players (Idah and Engles) who alone were worth more than the entire Kairat squad.

Celtic supporter Paul John Dykes also spoke about Brendan Rodgers and how he could handle the situation:

"Brendan Rodgers is very good when it comes to PR, and he has set us up as a fan base for the disappointment of the transfers.

"He will be furious. He won’t walk. He will stay until the end of the season, but he won't stay beyond that because he is doing a job with one arm tied behind his back at the moment.

"If a year down the line we need to replace Brendan Rodgers, how can you attract a quality manager when you’re not prepared to up the ante to get into the Champions League?”

Celtic are closing in on a permanent deal for Royal Antwerp winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha and a loan agreement for Boca Juniors left-back Marcelo Saracchi.

Balikwisha, 24, has scored once in four matches this season but missed the Belgian club's weekend win against Mechelen.

Defender Saracchi, 27, has nine caps for Uruguay and has had spells at Galatasaray, RB Leipzig and Levante.

Both players are scheduled to complete medicals in Glasgow later this week.

Prior to the second leg defeat in Kazakhstan, manager Brendan Rodgers said he hoped to have some positive news regarding transfers on their return to Glasgow.

Celtic face the classic problem. A two horse league where the challenger has declined rapidly the last season or two. With no challenger, there’s nothing to keep Celtic pushing to a higher level. It’ll be a long time, if ever, before Celtic can compete in Europe again.

  16. Champions League exit 'a massive blow'published at 09:23 British Summer Time

Kairat 0-0 Celtic AET (0-0 on agg; Kairat win 3-2 on pens)

    BBC 5 Live Breakfast

Celtic supporter Paul John Dykes on the financial impact of the team's Champions League exit: "It’s a massive blow because in Scottish football, it’s the most lucrative income stream that we have and last season, once we’d done the sums, Celtic actually pulled in £40m.

"And to miss out on that, there really is a knock-on effect, so we really had to get through that tie, and we failed. We were really poor across both games. It’s OK for managers and captains to come out and say ‘bitterly disappointed’ time and time again, but the fans have been calling this for weeks throughout the transfer window."

The board's decision not to make signings came back to bite us. But over both legs, Celtic played appallingly. Stop trying to create the perfect goal and just put the ball in the net! Get someone to put the ball in the box at set-pieces, then we might create something.

  18. 'It is a real sore one for the club'published at 09:11 British Summer Time

Kairat 0-0 Celtic AET (0-0 on agg; Kairat win 3-2 on pens)

    Celtic

Celtic captain Callum McGregor: "We didn't deserve to qualify. We have to regroup, we know we have a big game on Sunday [against Rangers] as well.

"It's a real sore one for the club in general in terms of the finances and everything else. We still need help, we still need bodies in the door, and hopefully the club can do that."

  19. 'So many players have gone backwards'published at 09:06 British Summer Time

Kairat 0-0 Celtic AET (0-0 on agg; Kairat win 3-2 on pens)

    Tom English
    BBC Scotland's chief sports writer

This is the flip-side of the argument. So many players from last season have gone backwards. Adam Idah and Arne Engels cannot even get in the team. Trusty would not have been in the team either had he been fit. These are Brendan Rodgers' signings.

The core of the team is still Ange Postecoglou's, because too many of the players Rodgers has recruited haven't done it as yet.

So, this exit is everybody's shambles. The leading narrative might be about the board not signing the players for the big push, but the board, if they were minded, could come back with a counter-argument about the value for money Rodgers' arrivals have provided so far. If he's not starting them, the answer right now is "not much".

This is a knotted situation that could become even worse domestically if Rangers were not so hell-bent on raising the ante in the crisis stakes.

The Old Firm are now in a ferocious battle with each other to determine who has the angriest fans. It is a colossal fight. Rangers have to play Brugge on Wednesday evening, already trailing 3-1 with the likelihood of more pain to come in Belgium.

Then the Glasgow Two meet at Ibrox on Sunday. Oxygen masks may be required.

Nobody wants to see their captain lose it like that, but Bowen is always a cool head in spite of being the most passionate man in claret and blue. He always seemed too mellow for captaincy to me but I'll back him any day for what he's done for us.
