FT: Grimsby Town 2-2 Man Utd (Grimsby win 12-11 on pens)

    Grimsby Town

Grimsby Town midfielder Kieran Green speaking to ITV: "It's unbelievable. I think it'll be one that'll live in the history of this club for a long time. I know a lot of the fans were looking forward to it, we were looking forward to it, so it's one that will stick around forever, I can imagine.

"I think that we went 2-0 up and everyone was probably surprised to be in that situation. I know they've come back from 2-2 and it's two-all, let's have it right, we'd have taken 2-2 at the death, so 2-2, them getting the equaliser at the end, we're still the team winning at that point and we'd take that going into the end.

"Going into the penalty shoot-out, the gaffer said to us, 'lads, all the pressure is on them', and it was really."

  3. 'I'm lost for words'published at 22:32 British Summer Time 27 August

On scoring his first ever Grimsby Town goal: "Long time coming. We're getting in the areas to score. I personally think I should score more. What a great time to score."

On the penalties: "It was dragging on. It was cold out there, I was shivering. I was last to take my pen. I just wanted to score and keep the tie going."

I think it’s highly concerning that Manchester United hid their new £75m striker as the 10th penalty taker in that shootout. Sesko should have been demanding the opportunity.

    It's wild.

The Grimsby fans invading the pitch. They've never seen anything like this! Getting over the line and in many respects they deserved it for the way that they played inside the 90 minutes.

The penalty shoot-out was as mad as the game itself. Now THAT is a giant killing.

The perception of him now... I don't think he gets over this.
