I think Tottenham are where I expect them to be.

They're doing well I think for where they're at as a team. They only managed to get four points from their opening five games but they're turned around - seven points in the last five and unbeaten in the last four.

They have that confidence and that they are in control, especially at home where their results have been really good.

  5. 'Only scoring three goals was clearly not enough'published at 12:26 Greenwich Mean Time

    Tottenham v Leicester (12:30 GMT)

    Leicester City

Leicester manager Amandine Miquel speaking to BBC Sport, on her team selection: "It's hard every time to pick a team. We've got quality so it's not easy. So we went for a team very close to the FA Cup hoping that they've got at least one game in their legs to make sure they have the rhythm. Hopefully it will be close to the 4-3-3 we used to do."

On Hannah Cain's absence: "She felt some pain in the midweek game so to take no risks we let her stay at home."

On whether she feels Leicester's form is improving: "We're feeling there's a change in the state of mind. They're starting to understand that even with the challenges we've had we can still be difficult to beat and be an aggressive team. They understood that, it took some time, now we have to make sure that we keep that state of mind for the next games."

On scoring more goals: "We've been working a lot on that, focusing on that part. [Before the break] we scored three goals which is clearly not enough. We've been working in training and I think the intention to go forward and be less scared is getting better."

    Tottenham v Leicester (12:30 GMT)

    Anita Asante
Former England defender on BBC iPlayer

Leicester want to take some of that momentum [from the FA Cup fourth round] and the win into this performance today but they’re struggling for goals.

Their top strikers are out and I think that’s been the challenge for them because they now don’t have that outlet to rely on.

  7. Foxes looking for a winpublished at 12:23 Greenwich Mean Time

    Tottenham v Leicester (12:30 GMT)

Amandine Miquel's Leicester will be hoping to return to league action in a positive fashion and put the string of poor results they endured before the break behind them.

They have not won a game in the league since 20 October, although they have had victories in the League Cup and FA Cup.

Leicester finished 2024 with a strong performance against the league leaders, making Chelsea come from behind to draw 1-1.

Will they be able to channel the good parts of that game today and begin to build some momentum?

  8. 'We need to sign players who care'published at 12:21 Greenwich Mean Time

    Tottenham v Leicester (12:30 GMT)

    Leicester City

Leicester boss Amandine Miquel says she wants to add attacking players in the January transfer window, but will only sign players who she believes suit the club.

The Foxes, who sit 11th after 10 games in the Women's Super League season, have scored just three league goals this season – with injuries playing a large part in their attacking woes.

"My priority is to make the squad I have better, first of all. If I can add offensive players because I think it will make a difference, I will," Miquel told BBC Sport. "I will not just add players to add players. I don't see the point in doing that.

"We are very open-minded. We are looking to find players that can suit our style, find the right state of mind, that wants to come.

"Right now, we need people that care and that want to help. If we don't find that player in our minds, we will not be adding any players because I trust the quality we already have here for the second phase [of the season]."

  10. 'No doubt about starting Kop'published at 12:16 Greenwich Mean Time

    Tottenham v Leicester (12:30 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Robert Vilahamn speaking to BBC Sport, on starting Lize Kop: "Lize looked really good in training and obviously we have scouted her for a while, we know what she can give. Obviously it's a great first game to play against her former team as well. There was no doubt, just play and get to know the team mates today and we'll take it from there."

On how the squad feels after the break: "It's a little bit tricky when you get over a month's break in the middle of the league. We had a good finish before Christmas and trained well now so we have to play and see where we are. We had good energy on the training field."

On the aims for the rest of the season: "We want to make sure we aim for a higher position in the table than last year but the main thing is to make sure we take steps in how we play. Next season we want to push it up higher to try to reach the Champions League so we need to take steps."

  11. Spurs come in off the back of positive runpublished at 12:14 Greenwich Mean Time

    Tottenham v Leicester (12:30 GMT)

After a tough couple of months which included defeats by Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool, Spurs ended 2024 with some good results.

They beat Everton and drew with Brighton in the league, plus they won against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa in the League Cup.

Spurs didn't have any FA Cup action last weekend, with their game being called off.

Can Robert Vilahamn ensure his side carry the momentum from before the break into 2025?

  12. 'I've missed it'published at 12:12 Greenwich Mean Time

    Tottenham v Leicester (12:30 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs boss Robert Vilahamn says today's match against Leicester is "important" and a good opportunity to begin 2025 in the right manner.

“Result-wise, in the table, it's an important game," he said in his pre-match news conference.

"If you win, you have a good step up in the table to make sure you have distance from the teams below, while, self-confidence-wise, it’s also good to start with a win because we have a lot of games in the next three weeks.

"So, the result is important, but if we lose the game, we have a new game already on Wednesday. It's just going to be nice to start playing again, it has been a month without any games – I’ve missed it.”

  13. What's already happened this weekend?published at 12:09 Greenwich Mean Time
