Joseph Teasdale scores from the penalty spot for Kelty Hearts
Kilmarnock were held to a goalless draw by League 1 Kelty Hearts and then beaten on penalties, but Stuart Kettlewell's side still top Premier Sports Cup Group H with one match to play.
The Ayrshire side dominated possession and had 19 shots in Fife, but were unable to break Kelty down in 90 minutes and were then beaten 4-3 on penalties.
The visitors led 3-2 after three rounds of spot-kicks, but Jamie Brandon and Marcus Dackers both had their efforts saved by Kelty keeper Ryan Adamson either side of Joseph Teasdale converting for the home side.
Kilmarnock have seven points from three matches, with both East Fife and Livingston a point further back. Kelty have five points from their three outings.
All to play for then on Saturday, as Kilmarnock host East Fife and Livingston take on Kelty (both 15:00).
