Newport's Kyle Hudlin had his 59th minute penalty saved

Newport County were left to rue a missed penalty as they were held to a goalless draw by Grimsby Town at Rodney Parade.

The hosts had dominated possession and had a golden opportunity to go ahead in the second half when they were awarded a spot kick.

Kyle Hudlin had drawn a foul inside the box, but his effort was saved in the bottom right hand corner by Jordan Wright.

Newport were dealt further blows losing Bobby Kamwa and Aaron Wildig to injury.

Grimsby, meanwhile, continue to pick up points on the road, having previously won five from their last five League Two away games.

The draw sees Grimsby climb into the play-offs spots, while Newport remain 15th.
