  1. Emery is a 'top coach'published at 13:16 British Summer Time 26 April

Aston Villa v Chelsea (Sat, 20:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on Aston Villa coach Unai Emery: "A top manager needs a top running session to trust and to provide the tools to perform. For me, I know his career, very well because he's from Spain. He's a top, top coach and for me he is one of the best. It's difficult to say who is the best coach, but I think he is top, for sure."

  2. 'We need to think we are Chelsea and respect ourselves'published at 13:11 British Summer Time 26 April

Aston Villa v Chelsea (Sat, 20:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on the reaction he wants to see in his players on Saturday: "We were talking a lot, today we had a meeting. We tried to realise how we need to behave when the game is tough, when the demands are so high. We need to try and be more strong and to trust in the way that we play, in our philosophy, in the way we prepare the games. To have the discipline, it's true, like after the game [], we cannot blame the players that the circumstances that we are leaving. We need to be positive and we need to be strong and believe tomorrow we can have a good game, good attitude, good approach. We are going to compete again with another team, fighting for the top. We need to think we are Chelsea and respect ourselves."

  3. 'The reality we cannot hide'published at 13:06 British Summer Time 26 April

Aston Villa v Chelsea (Sat, 20:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino on the return of Cole Palmer, who missed Chelsea's 5-0 defeat at Arsenal through illness: "I think Cole is a very good player for us and he is a key player for us and it is showing that we are struggling a little bit without him. That is the reality we cannot hide."

On his team falling apart against Arsenal after a setback: "No that is not true, that is not true. We conceded the first goal, of course, after four minutes and the team was there, we created some chances, the team was in the game. In the second half, we conceded the second goal. In the second half, we maybe showed the lack of capacity. The first 45 minutes, everyone believed and saw that the team was there, was fighting and trying to score.

"Lack of belief, in the circumstances, sometimes happens. After the disappointment against Manchester City [in the FA Cup semi-final], no time to recover, playing against a team that is playing for the Premier League. With our circumstances, I think, all was negative for the team and that is why we suffered."

Phil Foden is the Premier League player of the season for me, closely followed by Declan Rice and Ollie Watkins. All English… and arguably England’s two best players play abroad… surely we’ve got to win [the European Championship] this summer?!?

We have Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino coming up now.

His side have, of course, suffered a couple of damaging results since their 6-0 win at home to Chelsea had fans wondering if the Blues might just squeeze into the European qualification reckoning.

Defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final snuffed out one possible route into Europe, while a 5-0 loss at Premier League leaders Arsenal in midweek stalled their recent rise up the table.

They travel to fourth-place Aston Villa on Saturday with plenty of questions to answer.

Let's see what Pochettino has had to say...

  8. 'Strikers have to go through these things'published at 12:50 British Summer Time 26 April

West Ham v Liverpool (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on how he can get the best out of forwards Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez, who both came in for criticism for missing chances against Everton: "It's tricky. Strikers have to go through these things. That's how it is. That's a striker's life.

"A goalkeeper's life is make 500 saves, then one howler - and everybody talks about this. A striker's life is you score all the time, then you don't score for a while and then everybody asks why you don't score.

"It can be the most difficult thing in the world and sometimes it's the easiest thing in the world, depending on what chance you get.

"We had good chances against Everton but again we were a bit in a rush in finishing them off. So create again, create again and try and get in the right positions to finish the situations off.

"It will be a really rich man or woman who can write that book [on a striker getting back to their best]. You have to go through it. I try to help them speeding it up. That says nothing about the quality of the boys."

It’s not VAR technology that’s the problem, it’s the judgement and decision making of the officials running it. Labelling it as VAR is just distracting from the real issue, their level of competence. Unless that is sorted the problem remains and in practice more errors will happen without it.

  10. Klopp not ready to assess final seasonpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 26 April

West Ham v Liverpool (Sat, 12:30 BST

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on how he would assess his final season at the club, if there are no more twists in the title race: "I would not assess it now. I have no clue, so I am not in the mood to give up, wave the white flag kind of thing.

"I just think we have to look after ourselves; just make sure that we play better football. I said after the game 'why should a team who play like us against Everton be champions?' But the football we played before, a lot of good stuff. In January we looked invincible, with a depleted squad. Everybody went in the same direction, go for it, squeezed out results.

"So, we deserve to be where we are. I want us to use the situation, don't feel the pressure, for whatever reason it is. The boys are incredible footballers and I see it as my job to create that atmosphere where they can be the best versions of themselves - and that's obviously how I have failed.

"I don't know how it happened, but I didn't see anything of what I wanted us to be in the Everton game."

Mick from Blyth [11:24 BST] has nailed it. The automation of objective decisions such as offsides and goal-line need to be implemented or maintained. Subjective decisions are made by the on-field referee rather than VAR. If you wanted to implement a similar policy to other sports (eg. tennis, NFL) you could also potentially introduce one "challenge" a half, where contentious decisions can force the referee to review at the pitchside monitor. This would limit the number of interruptions but allow for managers to officially dispute a decision (rather than inevitably complain that VAR would have ruled against).

  12. 'I respect Moyes a lot'published at 12:31 British Summer Time 26 April

West Ham v Liverpool (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on West Ham manager David Moyes: "David is one of the best colleagues. We don't have time to spend together but actually we spoke over the years a lot before games.

"Like him a lot. Respect him a lot. I think he is doing an incredible job, to be honest. I like the team they have; offensively, really talented. He's doing a ridiculously good job.

"Jarrod Bowen - I have said a couple of times, one of my favourite players. I like him a lot since he developed."

To the human being who manages Liverpool's data models and outputs, if you look at the Eredivise table on the BBC Sport website, you may notice that there is a team [PSV Eindhoven] above Feyenoord who have more points, have let in fewer goals and scored many more goals (more than 25% more). Just a thought, but maybe worth looking at their manager if you need a replacement for your current one.

West Ham v Liverpool (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on how he would describe the job to Arne Slot: "Best job on the world. Best club in the world, and helps, obviously, with not finishing on a high, it looks like.

"Great job, great team, fantastic people. [Slot] 'would' [Klopp makes quote marks sign with his fingers] be taking a really interesting job."

We all know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but the media and Liverpool fans spouting about a quadruple seems embarrassing, in reflection. Liverpool hasn’t won the ‘real double’ since 1986. Maybe, in hindsight, the quadruple was initially spouted on the 1st of April.

  16. 'I like the way Slot's team plays football'published at 12:23 British Summer Time 26 April

West Ham v Liverpool (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on the possibility of Feyenoord manager Arne Slot becoming the club's new manager: "I'm not involved in the process, but I like a lot about it it, if he is the one and wants to take the job.

"I like the way his team plays football. All the things I hear about him as a guy - a good guy. Some people I know, know him. I don't know him, but some people who know him say he's a good guy. I like that a lot. So good coach, good guy. Looking forward for the club, if he is the solution, if he is the man, I am more than happy."

VAR was a good idea in theory but has overreached, been poorly implemented and ultimately damaged the game. Goal-line tech and offsides (if they speed up the decisions) should be the only tech aids for match officials.

  18. 'Did anyone expect us to become champions?'published at 12:19 British Summer Time 26 April

West Ham v Liverpool (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on the position the club finds itself now, three points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal with four matches remaining: "Did anyone expect us to become champions at the start of the season? No, but it developed in this direction.

"We go now to Aston Villa, they still have a few points less than us, so we need points still to be definitely [qualified for Champions League places], also Tottenham. Nobody here is happy at all.

"Just to explain how different it is. We cannot go back to the point where we say 'yeah, well [qualifying for the Champions League] is good enough'. It is very good, but because we were so close, we are very, very disappointed in this moment in time. We cannot change that."

  19. Rangnick talk like a 'noisy neighbour' - Tuchelpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 26 April

Bayern Munich v Eintracht Frankfurt (Sat, 14:30 BST)

Asked about Bayern Munich's talks with Ralf Rangnick, Tuchel says he's "ignoring" the speculation: "This question is like the neighbour that is noisy at three in the morning, if we're honest! I'll set my headphones to noise-cancelling mode and ignore that. This topic won't help me tomorrow, and won't help me on Tuesday - and it is not my topic."

West Ham v Liverpool (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on facing West Ham, who were beaten 5-2 by Crystal Palace last weekend: "They are an opponent who, and I'm not 100% sure, are in a similar situation to us, as they have their lost games... properly. So they want, and have to show a reaction. We want, and have to show a reaction. So let's see who can do this better."
