Morton manager Dougie Imrie tells BBC Scotland: "I'm a bit disappointed. We did not get anywhere near them first half, we gave them too much respect.

"When you give good players like Scott [Arfield] acres in the middle of the park, that is what can happen. Then again we don't deal with the wide players like Ethan Ross and he finds the bottom corner. Both goals could have been avoided.

"It is a sickener for Filip [Stuparevic]. He has done his ACL, so he is out for nine months. He has been outstanding for us since coming in from Motherwell.

"Tomi [Adeloye] had a knock in training yesterday. It was two massive players we missed tonight.

"It is the same every year [having a small squad]. It doesn't make any difference. We have to go on another run. The players are capable of doing that."

Falkirk attacker Ethan Ross tells BBC Scotland: "The ball came wide to me and I just wanted to drive inside.

"The gaffer has been on at me for getting shots off and get them on target, so thankfully I got that off today and found the bottom corner.

"We wanted [the pressure]. We knew Ayr and Livingston played tomorrow, so we knew if we put on a good performance then we could sit back and see what happens tomorrow."

Falkirk midfielder, and Player of the Match, Scott Arfield tells BBC Scotland: "I'm very pleased. It was not an enjoyable game. But it's job done.

"We knew they played the other night. We knew we could get after them and that maybe they would be a little leggy.

"That's when I think I'm at my best, when someone else's stretches [the play] I can pick up little pockets to make it awkward for centre-backs or number sixes. If you consistently get yourself those opportunities, you can take those chances."

Falkirk manager John McGlynn tells BBC Scotland: "I think in the first half we done the damage. And we were professional in the second half. I would have liked us to have done better in the second half.

"Two really good, well-worked goals. Good finishes. They were 11 games unbeaten. Other teams have been here and struggled.

"We took advantage. And we haven't been taking advantage. We have been losing goals against the run of play, which makes it hard to break down teams like Ayr and Livingston.

"We wanted to add to the scoreline in the second half. We could not get Ethan [Ross] or Calvin [Miller] on the ball. It did not quite materialise or click as we like it to do."

Falkirk have took care of business. They were right on the front foot and got the goals when the needed them. They almost killed the game off in the first half.

Morton, to their credit, rallied in the second half and showed why they are in the form they are currently in.

Two first half goals gift Falkirk all three points in Greenock.

Scott Arfield opened the scoring with a sweet strike from outside the area, before Ethan Ross followed up his assist for the opener with a lovely solo finish.

Falkirk go five clear at the summit as their closest challengers Ayr and Livingston meet tomorrow. Morton stay fifth for now.
