A cice free-kick floated in, Clark Robertson's header back across and a lovely, looping header from Ryan Astley.
That's if VAR allow it, of course... check ongoing. Goal! No offside.

The free-kick is chipped to the back post, it's nodded back to the on-rushing Astley nods perfectly over the keeper and into the back post.

49 minutes into the game, I make it the first serious involvement for the Dundee keeper Jon McCracken.
A double intervention too, with a sprightly run from his line followed by a super save from Mohamed Diomande.

Djeidi Gassama gets down the left and cuts it back to Mohamed Diomande.
His shot gets through the crowd of bodies but it can't get past Jon McCracken.

Dundee have been very energetic going from side to side, closing people down and they've been hard to play through.
Rangers are dominating in possession here, but you've got to think Tavernier is a better option than Max Aarons here.
Dundee have worked manfully, but when they break, they're breaking in numbers so all credit to Dundee just now.
It's been a bit dull watching Rangers. There were 10 minutes when they moved the ball quick enough, but apart from that it's been a bit pedestrian.

This has gone as well as visiting boss Steven Pressley could possibly have hoped. With one exception: his side may feel they're unlucky not to be ahead, having hit the post through Clark Robertson's header.
Rangers have had plenty of the ball and have looked threatening at times but have failed properly to test Jon McCracken in the Dundee goal.
That won't do for home boss Russell Martin, who may look to his bench where captain James Tavernier and midfielder Nico Raskin are the obvious options.

Dundee have followed their game plan to tee, spot on. They're growing in confidence and had the best opportunity. They will be really happy with their organisation.
Rangers struggle to break down teams who are sitting deep and they're struggling a bit today.
All the plaudits so far to Dundee, Rangers have to find a way to get through.
Not the first-half we expected here, and Dundee can take plenty of heart from that performance.
Although there's been a few chances - the best squandered by Djeidi Gassama - for the hosts, the best chances have been for the visitors.
Clark Robertson has hit the post twice, although the second effort would have been ruled out for offside.
Not even a boo at half-time. It felt a bit apathetic and flat.

Hands in pocket, home boss Russell Martin isn't too impressed with what he's seen so far.
Rangers have been tidy in possession without being really threatening.
At the back, there have been two scary moments when Dundee have hit the post.
Ten minutes to go til half-time. A goal would really settle the home side down. If they can find one.

Either way, these chances could rattle Rangers.

Rangers are unbeaten in their last 17 meetings with Dundee in all competitions (W14 D3) since a 1-2 league defeat in November 2017 under Graeme Murty.
Dundee have lost each of their last 19 away games at Rangers in all competitions, a run that began in 2001. Only against five sides have Rangers ever won 20+ consecutive home matches in their history, most recently an ongoing run of 21 against Dunfermline Athletic from 1999 to 2021.
Rangers drew 1-1 with Motherwell on MD1, but the Gers haven’t failed to win both of their opening two matches of a Scottish Premiership campaign since 1989-90 under Graeme Souness (lost to St. Mirren and Hibernian).
In their opening day defeat to Hibernian last weekend, Dundee managed just two shots, their fewest in a Scottish Premiership home game since October 2018 vs Celtic (2). The Dee did, however, win three of their final five away league games last term (L2), as many as across their 17 matches prior.
Joe Rothwell has recorded three assists across his last eight league appearances, with each assist coming from a set piece (2 for Leeds, 1 for Rangers) – the midfielder created the joint-most chances (3) of any Rangers player on MD1 against Motherwell, including his assist via a corner for James Tavernier.
