Newport County's last victory came against Gillingham in October

Newport County earned a fourth consecutive League Two draw with a hard-fought point on the road at Colchester United.

Both sides had chances at the JobServe Community Stadium, but the deadlock could not be broken.

Colchester had a penalty shout turned down on the half hour mark when the ball appeared to strike the arm of Joe Thomas as he charged down the shot of Samson Tovide inside the box.

Ellis Iandolo also came close for the home side, with his first-half strike needing a goal-line clearance from Shane McLoughlin.

Newport remain two places above Colchester at 16th in the table, having drawn five of their last six games, but they have not tasted victory since 22 October.
