  1. CLOSE!published at 18:45 British Summer Time 18 May

    Sevilla 0-0 Real Madrid

    My oh my.

Luka Modric curls a sublime ball into the path of Kylian Mbappe with the outside of his right boot but the Frenchman can't find the bottom corner with only the keeper to beat.

That was the best chance of the game so far and it's been squandered.

  2. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 18 May

    Sevilla 0-0 Real Madrid

Endrick is barged to the floor in the box by Djibril Sow and he turns to the referee to appeal for a penalty.

There's nothing doing though. No way that's being given as a penalty.

  3. Postpublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 18 May

    Barcelona 1-1 Villarreal

Sergi Cardona charges down the left before curling a devilish delivery in behind the Barcelona back line.

Inigo Martinez stretches as just about hooks it clear, and just as well, Nicolas Pepe was ghosting in behind him and would have had a clear shot on goal.

  4. goal

GOAL - Barcelona 1-1 Villarrealpublished at 18:39 British Summer Time 18 May

    Lamine Yamal (39 mins)

Lamine Yamal finds the levelller! Of course it's him, who else would it be?

He executes a neat one-two with Eric Garcia on the corner of the box before lashing a trademark curling shot across goal and into the far corner.

    Game on.

  5. Postpublished at 18:39 British Summer Time 18 May

    Sevilla 0-0 Real Madrid

In all fairness to Sevilla they've looked good since going down to 10 men.

Real Madrid haven't been able to create too many clear cut chances.

  6. Postpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 18 May

    Sevilla 0-0 Real Madrid

Kike Salas pulls off a wonderful last ditch block to prevent a Federico Valverde volley from flying into the net from the edge of the box.

    Barcelona 0-1 Villarreal

Villarreal have second-best away record in Spain's top flight this season with 33 points from their previous 18 games.

    It's easy to see why.

They're so tenacious in the press and Luiz Junior looks rock solid between the sticks.

    Barcelona 0-1 Villarreal

Lamine Yamal collects the ball and goes around the outside of Sergi Cardona but he slips at the crucial moment and slices his cut back to another Villarreal defender and it's cleared.

  9. Postpublished at 18:32 British Summer Time 18 May

    Barcelona 0-1 Villarreal

There's now a cooling break at Montjuic so Hansi Flick takes his moment to get a message to his Barcelona players.

They seem more concerned with pouring water over their heads though and who can blame them after running full pelt for near enough 30 minutes in sweltering heat?

  10. Alaves strengthen survival hopespublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 18 May

Kike Garcia offers Alaves hope of retaining their place in La Liga beyond this season by converting a penalty.

They lead 1-0 at Real Valladolid and climb three places to 14th - opening up a four point gap to the relegation zone.

Ante Budimir's strike has Osasuna 1-0 ahead against Espanyol and sees them move up to 8th - enough for a Conference League spot.

Rayo Vallecano draw level at Celta Vigo through Isi Palazon, while a Mikel Oyarzabal penalty puts Real Sociedad 2-1 in front against Girona.

  11. Postpublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 18 May

    Barcelona 0-1 Villarreal

Space opens up in front of Raphinha as he drives towards goal and he takes full advantage by winding up a left footed drive.

He almost tries to get too much purchase on it though and drags it well wide of the target.

    Sevilla 0-0 Real Madrid

Play has just been called to a halt for a brief cooling break. The south of Spain is not called "the frying pan" for no reason.

Sevilla boss Joaquin Caparros takes the chance to walk onto the pitch and remonstrate with the referee, presumably about the earlier red card, but he is quickly ushered away by his players.

  13. CLOSE!published at 18:26 British Summer Time 18 May

    Barcelona 0-1 Villarreal

Nicolas Pepe races clear on the left hand side and drives at the box.

He shows great feet to sit down Gerard Martin but he fires his shot inches wide of the left hand top corner.

  14. Postpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 18 May

    Sevilla 0-0 Real Madrid

Jude Bellingham sets Arda Guler free down the left hand side but he can't work his way past his marker and the chance is lost.

  15. GREAT SAVE!published at 18:24 British Summer Time 18 May

    Barcelona 0-1 Villarreal

Barcelona are knocking on the door now.

And what do you know, Lamine Yamal pops up to take two defenders away from Eric Garcia on the right so he can swing a cross into the middle.

It's met well by Robert Lewandowski but his header is palmed over the top by Luiz Junior.

    Barcelona 0-1 Villarreal

Lamine Yamal has been uncharacteristically quiet so far.

Having said that it normally only takes a blink of an eye for him to produce something special for Barcelona.

  17. CLOSE!published at 18:21 British Summer Time 18 May

    Sevilla 0-0 Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe is running the Sevilla defence ragged at the minute.

It just took three defenders to eventually crowd him out in the box as he tried to jink through and break the deadlock.

  18. Postpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 18 May

    Barcelona 0-1 Villarreal

Ayoze Perez is remonstrating with the referee after he was dragged to the floor in the centre circle by Inigo Martinez whilst trying to run clear.

He's now heading to the touchline to receive treatment on what looks like a hand injury.

  19. Girona level and Atletico leadpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 18 May

The goals are flying in across Spain in this penultimate round of fixtures.

Real Sociedad's lead lasts just five minutes as former Middlesbrough forward Cristhian Stuani levels for Girona.

Ex-Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez has put Atletico Madrid in front against Real Betis.

Celta Vigo also have their noses in front against Rayo Vallecano, with Marcos Alonso scoring from the penalty spot.

That Alonso effort has nudged Vallecano down to ninth and out of the European places as it stands.

  20. Postpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 18 May

    Barcelona 0-1 Villarreal

It's not quite clicking for Barcelona just yet.

They've seen plenty of the ball in the final third but they can't quite find the killer pass to open up Villarreal.
