  1. 'This was rock bottom'published at 22:38 BST 23 September

    FT: Dundee United 2-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen head coach Jimmy Thelin tells BBC Scotland: "It's tough. The supporters after the game, they're angry and frustrated with our performance and result.

"We need to find answers really quickly now to get the team going in the right direction and show our fans much more.

"The expectations are really big. Right now we have one point and zero goals and there are a lot of things to fix, in both boxes. Now we need to step up again and we have another chance on Saturday.

"We have to be more mature at the moments when the goals are scored and play the game another way.

"We need to step up and not have this tension when we play. We're all too tense. As individuals, I know the players can do better but we have to be more focused and trust our quality.

"I'm a strong believer this was rock bottom today. We can't go deeper than we are right now.

"Stuart Armstrong did really well today, he was experienced, there are a lot of expectation but he plays very composed and that's what we need to spread through the whole team for Saturday."

  3. Hibs 'conceding at poor times'published at 22:26 BST 23 September

    FT: Falkirk 2-2 Hibernian

Hibernian head coach David Gray tells BBC Scotland: "Falkirk started the better side, we had to adjust to the speed on the pitch. The pitch was really quick but once we got into the rhythm, we were really good.

"I think we had enough chances to put the game to bed and that's the frustration. We gave away an inexcusable goal from a set piece. It feels like two points dropped but being away from home, we'll take the one point.

"It felt like if a team was going to win the game, it would have been Falkirk from the momentum and noise in the stadium.

"We can't come away from the fact we're conceding goals at poor times, making sure it doesn't become an issue and the players don't feel anxiety from it.

"We're still undefeated in the league, and we're creating enough chances to win games of football at this level and if we can take those chances, we will start winning."

  4. United win 'shows money is not everything'published at 22:18 BST 23 September

    FT: Dundee United 2-0 Aberdeen

Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin tells BBC Scotland: "We're delighted with the result and overall performance.

"It was an excellent team performance from start to finish. Scored a couple of very good goals, a well worked corner, which we worked hard on in training yesterday.

"We showed great resilience in the last 10 minutes when Aberdeen were throwing everything at us, but it was very comfortable.

"It could've been more goals given the territory we had and the dangerous actions around the Aberdeen penalty area. Tonight was a good example of what we're capable of.

"It's a really positive start we've hard, but we're going to stay grounded. In the league, we were very, very good and have gone toe-to-toe with three of our biggest competitors.

"It shows money is not everything when you have character, desire and togetherness."

The Scottish Championship table makes pleasing reading for St Johnstone fans with the Perth side now eight points clear at the top following tonight's win over Airdrieonians.

  7. 'Underperforming Hibs have soft core'published at 22:05 BST 23 September

This chucking away games at Hibs needs to stop! Team is now underperforming and has a soft core that will only serve to motivate other teams to believe that they can get a result from Hibs. Given the investment - this is poor.

    Lee

It cannot be stressed enough how badly Hibs need to sort out their defence - if you look at the number of goals we score, we should have a much better points tally. How many seasons in a row have we been undone by not having decent centre-backs, but it never seems to be addressed. Just need to sign known quantities from other Scottish teams.

  9. 'Comeback speaks volumes for Falkirk'published at 22:01 BST 23 September

    FT: Falkirk 2-2 Hibernian

Falkirk manager John McGlynn tells BBC Scotland: "We never fail to entertain, we play good football and we go out to attack in every game.

"The atmosphere tonight was amazing. Great mentality from the players, to be 2-0 down against a team like Hibs and to come back speaks volumes for everyone involved and the fighting spirit.

"The goal before half-time was significant and the only thing separating the teams was a penalty. I've not seen it back, but there's not much we can do about it.

"Getting crosses in the box, we caused them problems throughout the whole game and on another night, we could have went ahead early on. It was a great point.

"We knew Hibs have a bad record of losing goals just before half-time, we mentioned that to the players. The goal was the difference between us getting a point and not and getting confidence in the players to say we are very much in this game."

  12. 'Thelin needs results quickly'published at 21:54 BST 23 September

    FT: Dundee United 2-0 Aberdeen

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

The fans are not applauding the players back, all they're getting is abuse. You give respect to the fans for coming down and watching and then you get yourself quickly into the dressing room.

Even through the bad results last season, the fans stayed and applauded. But this season, they're away home before the final whistle. The next stage is usually a few banners and a wee demonstration outside.

Thelin needs results quickly. Starting with Motherwell down at Fir Park is a huge task.

There's nothing to be celebrated for Aberdeen just now.

  13. 'The bell tolls for the Aberdeen manager'published at 21:51 BST 23 September

Awful! Lazy and slow. No passion, no heart. I’m afraid the bell tolls for the Aberdeen manager. Faith in your shape has failed! Thanks for the cup, Jimmy, but fare thee well!

    Ally

Thanks for the memories Jimmy; time for Peter Leven to remind us of what he can do!

    Ross

Can someone tell Thelin that performing the same experiment (formation) over and over again, and expecting different results, is the definition of insanity! Adapt, or go!

  14. Saints eight clear in Championshippublished at 21:51 BST 23 September

    FT: Airdrieonians 1-2 St Johnstone

St Johnstone are eight points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship after a narrow win in the end at Airdrieonians.

Jamie Gullan and Cheick Diabate had Saints two up after 19 minutes but Cammy Cooper pulled one back for Airdrie after the break.

    FT: Dundee United 2-0 Aberdeen

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

Stuart Armstrong was Aberdeen's best player tonight, they had a couple of chances, but nowhere near enough to suggest they were close to Dundee United.

Aberdeen have a lot of work to do to turn this around. You can only hope they do it sooner rather than later.

  16. Ayr close in on Dunfermlinepublished at 21:46 BST 23 September

FT: Dunfermline Athletic 0-1 Ayr United

Ayr United are up to sixth in the Scottish Championship after securing their first league win of the season away to Dunfermline Athletic, who remain fifth and are a point in front of Ayr.

Mark McKenzie scored the only goal in the ninth minute and both teams had players sent off for two bookings in the second half - Jeremiah Chiloka-Mullen for the hosts and Dylan Watret for Ayr.

    Ian McCall
Former Falkirk manager on BBC Sportsound

I really enjoyed Falkirk in the second half. They fully merited their point.

The crowd sensed they were going for a winner at the end but it just didn't happen.

  19. 'Valuable point' for Falkirkpublished at 21:42 BST 23 September

    FT: Falkirk 2-2 Hibernian

    Billy Dodds
Former Rangers striker & coach on BBC Radio Scotland

    Falkirk have something about them.

They look really good going forward. You worry about them at the back - that's why they lost those two goals - but to show that spirit and fighting from 2-0 back, it's another valuable point.

After half-time, Falkirk dominated and were unlucky not to nick it.
