Dave, Leicester:Re: Alan 18:13 Agreed. Every 4th round fixture is potentially worthy of being televised. Lots of unfashionable draws that could be very close games. Hopefully the lopsided draws will be competitive. Tamworth and Plymouth have proved that shocks can happen. Love the cup!

As an Arsenal fan we deserved that, we have an extra man and our build up play is so slow. I think Arteta has to go, he has run out of ideas.

  7. 'You need things to go your way and tonight it didn't' - Artetapublished at 19:02 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

FT: Arsenal 1-1 Man Utd (Man Utd win 5-3 on penalties)

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, speaking to the BBC: "It's unbelievable. Obviously, you measure the performance and what we did in relation to the position, you-know, you deserve to win the game by a mile.

"But the reality is we are out and the only thing that's going to be judged it that but internally I can't.

"I love my players. I love our team and I love how good they are and what they do because in 1000 games, you should loose one and probably it was this one. You have to understand this as well, it's part of our industry, our game and move on because you don't have time to do that because on Wednesday we have a massive one."

"It's football and it is a part of that execution, you need things to go your way and tonight it didn't."

"When you go to penalties you know that it's a flick of the coin and it can go either way."

"It's an incredible team. I'm so proud of my players. I love my players and I cannot be prouder because it's very difficult to demand something else than the performance that they put in there."

"The ball has to go in the net and then you have to batter the opponent, that's the reality.

On Gabriel Jesus going off injured: "No update but it's not looking good. He was in quite a lot of pain, he had to come off on a stretcher and he's not looking good."

What was Raya doing on those penalties? He dived early every single time, allowing the Utd players to just role the ball in. Not a Utd fan, but made up Arteta got the smile wiped off his face.

  10. 'We deserved to go through because we suffered together' - Amorimpublished at 18:56 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

FT: Arsenal 1-1 Man Utd (3-5 on pens)

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, speaking to BBC One: "Thankfully the players were there, they fought. Sometimes what we talk about before the match is not tactical or technical, it's this. We have to compete no matter what, no matter what the situation we competed today. We deserved to win, Arsenal didn't deserve to lose but we deserved to win. The way we played, the way we fought was really tough since the beginning. We didn't have the ball too much but we had control without the ball.

"I want to also say thank you to all the fans. It was unbelievable. I did not understand that all that area was our supporters, so it was a good day for us now we have to rest the players, I'm already thinking about the next game they're really tired.

"Sometimes we have the feeling that everything in the end is going to be okay. I felt that since the beginning of the second half, even after the penalty. I think the Arsenal team felt that maybe today is not their day. I'm really pleased for the way they controlled the game without the ball. We defended very well, set pieces we were really strong. It was a good day but now I'm thinking about the next game and worried about the next game.

"We were facing a great team and it was not just 90 minutes, it was more than that and then you feel like the players are really tired. They put in new players, they controlled the ball all the time, it was a sacrifice for my players. But we deserved to pass through this round because we suffered all together and we showed character and that's a very important thing."

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim speaking to BBC One on Altay Bayindir: "He's a good guy, he works a lot and life has beautiful things. A few weeks ago we were suffering through a difficult moment but now he's like a hero for us.

"All the players in this team who have the opportunity and they are lucky because they are playing for Manchester United. It doesn't matter if you play one game or 90 games, its always a joy to play for this club."

On facing Ruud van Nistelrooy's Leicester in the next round: "I talked with him before I came. I'm looking forward to speak with him. He's a class guy but we need to win. Maybe we'll be divided because he loves this club but we need to win."

The other night someone on here said that Arteta was channeling his inner Wenger with his comments. I fear that person was right. His comment about why the ball isn't going in the net is madness. No Mikel, it's because we don't have a striker. Havertz is great, as a 10. Odegaard just doesn't have many options to play the ball in behind. Wrighty said it the other season "we need a killer". Another season wasted.

Arsenal should have won the game, but it wasn't meant to be.

Looking at Man Utd's best players it was their defenders and goalkeeper.

  20. 'We have to do it every week'published at 18:34 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

FT: Arsenal 1-1 Man Utd (Man Utd win 5-3 on penalties)

    Manchester United

Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes, speaking to BBC One: "Obviously the circumstances of the game we played with one less we suffered a lot but we sacrificed a lot as a team and at the end you get this

On Altay Bayindir's performance: "It's a big moment for him, the first penalty and another save here and we are really happy for him. It's tough to be second goalkeeper, he came here to play, whenever he gets his chance he's top class for us, he's top class in training, he's always available for everyone and he truly deserves this moment.

"I know we want to celebrate and everything but our focus is now Southampton, that is when we have to back it up. The big games against Liverpool, Arsenal, everyone steps up because it's a big game. You want to be in these kinds of games, you want to be involved, you want to be the best but we have to do it in Old Trafford with these fans again. We have to give it back for the club. We need to do it every week, every game."
