No chance Swindon game gets restarted. The fog is terrible at the County Ground. I’m 3 miles away at my flat and it’s clear as.

Fans at the County Ground have been told referee Lee Swabey is planning to conduct a visibility inspection at 15:30 GMT, after which he will get in touch with EFL officials to decide the best course of action.

Just to make you aware the lone EFL 15:00 GMT kick-off is underway in League Two as Swindon host Crewe.

The game has however been halted inside the opening five minutes as a thick blanket of fog has descended on the stadium.

Still goalless, at least, but BBC Radio Wiltshire's commentators are not confident of an immediate resumption due to the limited, and worsening visibility.

The players are heading back to the dressing room, for now.

The poor old ground staff have worked tirelessly to get the playing surface in good condition, but there's not much you can do about fog really, is there?

If Swindon are to extend their proud EFL membership into a 106th year, tightening up at the back is going to be essential.

The Robins have shipped 41 goals so far this season, more than anyone else in the division, while recording only three clean sheets in their 25 league games – and none since early October.

Ironically, one of those shut-outs was achieved against this afternoon’s visitors Crewe when the teams fought out a scoreless draw at the Mornflake Stadium in August.

Manager Ian Holloway will need to reshuffle the defence though after left-back George Cox broke his foot in last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Notts County, which left Town 22nd in the table and just four points above the dotted line.

However, Swindon’s recent home form should give Holloway some cause for optimism – they have won each of their last three games at the County Ground, seeing off Fleetwood, Grimsby and Colchester.

    League Two bottom

Not a good look for Nigel Adkins' men as Rovers slip a place into the bottom four on goal difference, thanks to their lop-sided defeat to the Saddlers.

Today could get even worse for them depending on how Swindon fare against Crewe.

League One table on 11 January

Rotherham's dominant 3-1 win sees them climb three places from 16th to 13th in League One.

Bolton stay in 10th and miss the chance to move within a point of Reading in the final play-off spot.

A great afternoon for Steve Evans and his side. Bitterly disappointing for Ian Evatt and co.

  9. 'We want Lowey to stay' - Sadlerpublished at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    FT: Walsall 5-1 Tranmere

Walsall boss Mat SadlerImage source, Rex Features

Walsall boss Mat Sadler told Sky Sports: "We started really well and got the two early goals. It got a bitty bitty with everything going on in the middle of the half. The goal gives them a bit of impetus but I think that early goal in he second half settled everything down.

"Credit to groundstaff who worked incredibly hard for days to get that game on, they worked their socks off. For us, with everyone else not playing it's a big result.

"We're a team that are desperate to keep doing well, we'll try to keep going."

Asked about the chances of losing Nathan Lowe, being recalled by parent club Stoke, Sadler said: "We want Lowey to stay, he's doing great. the most important thing is he's playing games.

"I'm sure he'll go on to have a brilliant career. He's desperate to play and score goals - we want to be part of that. We have a great relationship with (Stoke), we speak to them regularly."

With a 13-point lead at the top of the table, Walsall are firm favourites for promotion, but Sadler added: "I've said to the lads, let everyone else talk, we'll just keep going.

"We'll keep drumming the hard work and togetherness messages. We know what we've got to do."

    FT: Walsall 5-1 Tranmere

Walsall striker Nathan Lowe told Sky Sports: "At one point I thought it wasn't going to happen (getting on the scoresheet in a 5-1 win). I couldn't have done it without Jamille, he's a perfect foil and deserves to get the limelight."

As for his own future, the on-loan Stoke forward, who has been linked with a move up the EFL ladder, Lowe admitted: "I have no idea. It's out of my hands. I'm enjoying my football. I just want to play as many games as possible, wherever that is, I'll be happy.

"It's amazing to play in this team. We're a normal group of lads playing for each other, running for each other, this is what happens. We're a whole team, not just one individual. You look around and we're bringing Albert Adomah on for 20 minutes - I'm dreaming."

    FT: Walsall 5-1 Tranmere

Walsall striker Jamille MattImage source, Rex Features

Jamille Matt bagged a brace to make it nine for the season and told Sky Sports: "We knew it would be difficult, it took a while to settle in but the boys are playing with a lot of confidence and we got there in the end.

"Nathan (Lowe) is always putting me in the shade this season so it's nice to get a couple. It's been an absolute pleasure to play alongside him."

  12. 'Tremendous performance'published at 14:37 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    FT: Rotherham 3-1 Bolton

    Ronnie Moore
Ex-Rotherham manager on BBC Radio Sheffield

Tremendous performance, first half was top drawer.

Hard to live up to that first-half performance, second half we let them have it a bit more. First half we had some good chances, and plenty of shots.

Second half a lot of shots but they weren't hitting the target. Nice to see Nombe doing what all good strikers do following up for his goal.

We have games now that you look at and think we can put a nice run together, this has to be the standard now.

  13. Another Saddlers statement winpublished at 14:34 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    FT: Walsall 5-1 Tranmere

    Michael Beardmore
BBC Sport at Poundland Bescot Stadium

The latest in a long line of statement victories from the League Two leaders.

Walsall have been in the division for five long years now but their fans will be starting to believe that stay is coming to an end.

In Jamille Matt and Nathan Lowe, they have the division's most potent front pair - although they will be counting down the days until the end of January hoping parent club Stoke do not recall the latter.

For Tranmere, though, things are much gloomier and there were loud chants from the away end requesting Nigel Adkins' removal.

An excellent performance by Rotherham who cruise to a comfortable three points.

Bolton simply were not at the races at all and slip to a fourth defeat in seven games - and in doing so, miss the chance to close the gap to the play-off spots.

Mallik Wilks' penalty, Reece James' arrowed finish for his first goal for the club and Sam Nombe's rebound effort made for a fantastic afternoon for the Millers.

John McAtee struck a late consolation but Steve Evans' side are now unbeaten in four (W2 D2) and extend their unbeaten record in league games at home to Bolton to 18.

Don't underestimate the value of having Dion Charles on the pitch.

A central defender is always going to be worried about playing against Charles, he's a constant nuisance from defenders.

    Well-taken goal.

Oof, Bolton almost nick another. The ball comes across the face of goal from Josh Dacres-Cogley but Dion Charles can't quite connect from close range. Any touch and that might've made things very interesting.

Another page is written in what could be one of the most glorious chapters in the 137-year history of Walsall.

A club record eighth straight win has given them a 13-point lead at the top of League Two.

Big couple of weeks for the Saddlers coming up. You feel that the only thing standing in their way in the promotion race are vultures, from higher divisions, looking to pick off their best players during the transfer window, or dare we say even manager.

For now, though, all is rosy in the black country.

As for Rovers, they'll have far better days, and will need them, if they are to avoid being dragged right into the mix at the foot of the table.
