Matt Grimes' fine finish secured a deserved point for Swansea City as they fought back to draw 1-1 with Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

Luton took the lead somewhat against the run of play as Elijah Adebayo finished sharply after taking advantage of Ben Cabango's underhit backpass.

Hatters goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski produced some excellent saves to keep the hosts in front, but Swansea's pressure eventually told as skipper Grimes fired home from a corner routine.

Both sides pushed for a winner as they looked to get back to winning ways, but the spoils were shared thanks to some fine goalkeeping, particularly from Kaminski.

Parity does little to change the fortunes of either side, with Swansea finishing the contest 13th in the Championship, five points and five places above the Hatters.

Arguably it will be Luton boss Rob Edwards who will feel happier with a point in a contest where the visitors enjoyed close to 65% possession and produced 20 shots, 10 of which were on target.

Edwards made four changes from the side beaten 4-2 at Norwich City with Tom Holmes, Marvelous Nakamba, Tom Krauß and Victor Moses all earning starts.

Swansea boss Luke Williams recalled Goncalo Franco in the Swans' only change from their 2-2 draw with Portsmouth.

Kick-off was delayed at Kenilworth Road by 15 minutes due to a medical emergency with a supporter, with Luton thankfully announcing the fan was in a stable condition as they left for hospital.

Luton goalkeeper Kaminski was busier than his Swansea counterpart in the early exchanges as he showed fine reflexes to deny Zan Vipotnik's deflected effort after he diverted Liam Cullen's shot goalwards.

Kaminski also denied Harry Darling's header as the Swans looked for an earlier opener, while Adebayo headed wide from Moses' cross and denied Josh Tymon's powerful effort.

The hosts appeared ready to punish Swansea's missed chances and Adebayo opened the scoring on 17 minutes as he took advantage of a defensive calamity from the Swans, intercepting an underhit backpass and confidently rounding goalkeper Lawrence Vigouroux and scoring from an acute angle.

Swansea continued to push for a leveller with Cullen and Tymon both testing Kaminski, while at the other end Adebayo headed wide from Jordan Clark's cross.

Luton had won each of their previous three league games against the Swans without conceding and they almost doubled their advantage shortly after the interval but Vigouroux – who did not cover himself in glory for the Hatters' opener – produced a brilliant save to deny Adebayo's powerful effort.

The action continued at either end with Kaminski a man in inspired form as he saved twice from Franco, including a fingertip stop from a fine curling effort.

The visitors would have been wondering how they trailed a game they were dominating in terms of chances and possession, and their pressure eventually told on 64 minutes as Grimes hammered home from a clever corner routine.

Swansea deserved parity and might have gone ahead, but Kaminski saved from Myles Peart-Harris' effort before Luton sub Jacob Brown saw his effort blocked in a crowded penalty area.

On sheer volume of chances it was Swansea who looked the most likely winners, with Florian Bianchini seeing his effort saved on 79 minutes but, thanks to Kaminski, Luton earned a point.

Luton Town boss Rob Edwards told BBC Three Counties:

"It was a really tough day. We started off before the game with a really worrying moment, I am told the supporter is ok, a big thank you to the paramedics who have probably saved this person's life.

"That's the most important thing. The game was a challenging day for us, the conditions and Swansea are a difficult team to play against.

"It was hard to get any rhythm and they got a goal I think they deserved.

"No-one is really playing at their peak at the moment… so to come out with a point is probably a good thing. We were hanging on at the end."

Swansea boss Luke Williams told BBC Radio Wales:

"We could have come away with all the points but we gave away a sloppy goal so therefore we rode our luck a little bit.

"We were two goals behind against Portsmouth and then a goal behind today, so we are making hard work of these games, but we certainly deserved at least a point.

"We started the game brilliantly well, the first half was a strong performance and in the second half there was no let-up from the lads.

"I think they really deserved their goal for throwing everything forward."
