Chelsea had 75% possession in the first half, nine shots and made more than double the number of passes than their opponents - 400 to Legia's 131.

Can they turn those stats into goals in this second half?

The players are back out on the pitch.

Maresca has turned us into such a boring side to watch. Even worse than Sarri. You would think the sporting directors would bother to do some research about how unpopular this sort of football is at Chelsea but apparently not. The fans will never take this terrible football.

    James, London

I'm trying to work out what half of Football was the least entertaining this week, the first half of the Manchester derby on Sunday, the second half of Leicester v Newcastle on Monday or that first half I've just witnessed from Chelsea.

To say Andre Onana is one of the worst goalkeepers in modern times is harsh and the name of Massimo Taibi's ill-fated four-game spell in 1999 (he conceded 12 goals) immediately springs to mind. The feeling is that Nemanja Matic is standing up for a friend in David de Gea.

Nevertheless, Onana has done little to justify his transfer fee – the fourth highest paid for a goalkeeper - which means Matic has a legitimate position to launch such an attack.

The pre-match handshake between the pair should be fun.

Nemanja Matic on Andre Onana: 'One of the worst keepers in Man Utd history'

This already looked a decent game on paper but Nemanja Matic has really spiced it up after the former Manchester United midfielder labelled Red Devils goalkeeper Andre Onana "one of the worst goalkeepers in the club's history".

Matic, who spent five years at Old Trafford between 2017-2022, was asked about Onana's comments that United were "way better" than Lyon.

"If you are one of the worst goalkeepers in Manchester United's history, you need to take care what you're talking about," said Lyon midfielder Matic.

"If it was [Edwin] Van der Sar, [Peter] Schmeichel or [David] De Gea saying that, then I would question myself. But you need to have cover to say something like that."

It's win or bust for Manchester United in terms of their European prospects. They need to win the Europa League to qualify for European football next season as they are 13th in the Premier League - out of contention for the European places.

The last time the Red Devils did not play in Europe was 2014-15.

The winners of the Europa League will qualify for next season's Champions League, and United boss Ruben Amorim said: "To play in the Champions League [makes the situation] completely different.

"The environment, the way we are going to face the summer, the budget for the summer - everything is connected with this competition.

"We know that pressure, but again, it's not the biggest problem in Manchester United. We have other strings to get this in the right way, without Champions League next year. But of course we will try to win it."

  7. Ekitike the man to watchpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 10 April

Tottenham v Eintracht Frankfurt (20:00 BST)

Hugo Ekitike is the man to watch for Frankfurt this evening at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. His 19 goals and eight assists in 40 appearances have catapulted the 22-year-old into the transfer plans of a number of Premier League clubs.

"Ekitike has had a wonderful season," Christopher Michel, football reporter at the Frankfurter Rundschau, tells BBC Sport.

"His technique is one of the best in Europe and his foot is like glue for the ball. It is incredible how he dribbles, and he doesn't care if the ball is on his left or his right foot - he can shoot with both, and this is a quality you need as a top striker."

  8. 'Even if we win, I am gone anyway'published at 18:36 British Summer Time 10 April

Tottenham v Eintracht Frankfurt (20:00 BST)

Ange Postecoglou joked in his press conference in the build-up to Spurs' first leg of their Europa quarter-finals against Eintracht Frankfurt that even if he wins a trophy he is "gone" at the end of the season.

We say joked, but the Australian certainly wasn't laughing.

He is aware that even ending that drought with a European triumph may not be enough to convince some observers he is the right person to manage the club beyond this season due to poor performances in the Premier League.

"I just think you can't win the argument of convincing people", he said. "Even if we win [the Europa League], I am gone anyway. That's just the general sentiment of the people.

"If you try to use that as a motivation, you are not going to win anyway. It's got to be something more in it for us.

"For us, what's most important is that we have been through a tough time but we are still in a position to make an impact."

Winning the Europa League would provide a route into next season's Champions League for the winners.

Well, those assessments that Chelsea are head and shoulders above the rest in the Conference League are looking a little misguided at present.

In the absence of much to talk about from the first half, let's preview some of the games to come later this evening...

For all the talk about Chelsea’s past, The sad fact is that they’ve been mismanaged and they’ve found their level. The likes of Sancho, Sanchez, Nkunku and Dewsbury-Hall are out of their depth even in the Conference League on current form so it’s no surprise that Legia Warsaw are on top

    Steve

Nkunku on course for potential back-to-back halftime subbings? Not a good look for him.

There's a bigger picture here in terms of Chelsea's form recently. They want to keep possession but it's unpopular because of the attacking talent they have.

This is similar to how their Premier League games have gone.

Every save the goalkeeper makes is an amazing one, with the amount of smoke on the pitch. The game is barely visible.

  20. CLOSE!published at 36 mins

    Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea

Chelsea have raised their level a bit.

The corner is taken short before a ball is curled in by Malo Gusto, and Benoit Badiashile loops a header towards goal.

Christopher Nkunku comes close to turning the ball home, but home skipper Rafał Augustyniak does enough to get in his way.

It looked like Augustyniak turned that over his own bar, but a goal kick is given.
