More side to side passing from Man City.

They know they will need to be patient this afternoon if they are to find a way to break Everton down.

    Everton 0-0 Man City

After a period of side to side passing City defender Alanna Kennedy hits a long diagonal ball for Kerstin Casparij to chase on the right.

It's overhit though and runs out of play.

In Everton's previous games Snoeijs or Payne, whoever that number nine is has been playing in isolation.

Vanhaevermaet has got the height to win those headers, get some flick ons and Snoeijs and Payne then have something to gamble on.

    Everton 0-0 Man City

No 'big' chances per say yet aside from that early run and shot from Katja Snoeijs.

It's very much City possession against Everton's mid to low block.

Man City take a corner the traditional way this time, but Courtney Brosnan stays firm to catch it on her own goal line as several attackers close in.

  7. 'City need to move the ball quicker'published at 12:44 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

    Everton 0-0 Man City

    Lindsay Johnson
    Ex-England defender on BBC Two

I think Everton are really working hard in that mid-block. Making it really compact in those central areas.

City need to move the ball quicker, get it out wide to Fujino and Park.

    Everton 0-0 Man City

Predictably Man City have enjoyed the lion's share of possession so far in this one, but Everton are doing well to keep them at arm's length.

Laura Blinkilde Brown has just had their first shot on target 13 minutes in.

  9. 'Good start from Snoeijs'published at 12:39 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

    Everton 0-0 Man City

    Lindsay Johnson

Really good play there from Snoeijs.

That was all because of Everton's compactness in that midfield.

Just that speed takes her in but too much pulls it wide of the far post.

    Really good start from Snoeijs.

As a Chelsea fan who's followed the womens team since 2012 yesterday's first half was the worst I've seen them play. No player gets a pass mark and Madrid will beat us midweek if we play like that. Hoping Everton can do us a favour today.

It's been a good start from Everton.

They've been quick to press Man City in midfield and are refusing to let the title challengers have it all their own way.

  12. CLOSE!published at 12:37 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

    Everton 0-0 Man City

Everton win the ball back in midfield and Katja Snoejis sets off on a great marauding run.

She gets beyond the Man City back line but rushes her shot, firing it well over the bar.

  13. Postpublished at 12:35 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

Jess Park makes a late run from deep in a bid to charge down a long ball over the top from Khiara Keating but Courtney Brosnan is wise to it and races off her line to clear the danger.

Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor speaking to BBC Two about Alex Greenwood's injury: "I think it's not as serious as everyone feared, I think with Alex being stretchered off. We're still awaiting conversation with the consultant just to find out what the time frame looks like."

Former City captain Steph Houghton said she has spoken with Greenwood: "She's doing ok. You know what she's like. She'll be absolutely devastated to be missing football games but the main thing is she's positive. She's in a lot of pain now but at the same time she is just looking forward to getting back on the recovery."

Strong start from Man City as they look to make their mark early.

They take an early corner short which ends in a looping cross from Leila Ouahabi but no one in maroon can get their head on it in the middle.

  20. City will have 'enough to cope' with injuriespublished at 12:26 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

Everton v Man City (12:30 GMT)

    Steph Houghton
Former Manchester City and England captain on BBC Two

When you're missing players like Alex Greenwood, captain of the club, who has been so consistent and the likes of Bunny Shaw - they are big players for this football team.

Even if you look at the starting XI today, it's a strong team with young players on the bench and I think they'll have enough to cope with over the next few weeks for sure.
