Josh Walker scored a late equaliser to earn Southend a draw at high-flying Boreham Wood in the National League.
Finlay Herrick made a solid save in the opening moments to deny Southend's Ben Goodliffe, while Jeff King sent a free-kick just wide at the other end.
Abdul Abdulmalik had an excellent opportunity for the hosts after the break but his strike flew over the bar, with Herrick then saving from Harry Boyes' effort.
Boreham Wood took the lead in the 69th minute when Matt Rush turned well before firing past Collin Andeng-Ndi, but Walker levelled in the 81st minute, stabbing the ball home after Herrick had made a save.
