Bolton make three changes from their last league game which ended in a 5-0 hammering at Stockport.

There are also three changes for Blackpool.

Oliver Norburn, Elliot Embleton and Hayden Coulson are called into the starting line-up with Jordan Rhodes and Ryan Finnigan on the bench while CJ Hamilton will be out for at least a month with a thigh injury.

The Championship rejoins the EFL party this weekend with Plymouth claiming a late point against Watford last night to kick-off the action.

As ever there's plenty of intrigue in leagues one and two and we've picked out some of the highlights here.

Take That were number one in the charts the last time Shrewsbury and Birmingham met in the league in April 1995.

Blues have certainly begun life in the third tier as if they don't want to be Back for Good and intend to make their stay a 12-month one.

Chris Davies' side have lost one of their opening 13 games - the only time they were unbeaten at this stage of a season was 1900-01 - and a win here would take them top ahead of Wycombe who play at 15:00.

Rock-bottom Salop have lost five of their seven home games in League One and their four home points is the worst return in the division.

Gareth Ainsworth takes charge of his first Town game this afternoon but despite vast experience in the division with Wycombe, he is not underestimating the task at hand.

"There could be a little bit of pain at the start, but I'm asking for patience and I'm asking for the town to get behind us and to buy into what we are trying to do," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.

Bolton Wanderers v Blackpool (12:30 GMT)

With the Bolton Wanderers head coach job comes great responsibility.

Having extracted themselves from League Two this is now their fourth season in League One - this wasn't the plan - many feel they should be playing Championship football by now.

A poor start to the season cranked-up the pressure on boss Ian Evatt but recent form suggests they can be in the play-off conversation.

Gloss over the 5-0 thrashing at Stockport and Bolton are unbeaten in their past four league games at home and they've only lost twice at the Toughsheet Community Stadium this season - their only home reverses in this calendar year.

This fixture has plenty of history behind it - this is the 107th meeting in all competitions and how Steve Bruce would like to mark it with a victory.

On his return to management Blackpool won their first four league games under the former Manchester United defender but the pickings have been slim since then.

Currently on a seven match winless run in the league, their last victory on the road came at Huddersfield back in September and taking into account Bolton's home record it doesn't augur well for the visitors' hopes of ending that sequence.

Stevenage are five places and four points ahead of Leyton Orient in the League One standings, but they have contrasting form.

The Boro are winless in four and are the lowest scorers in the division with 11 in 15 games while Orient have won two of three to ease away at the bottom.

Alex Revell's side don’t have the best record against the Os, failing to score in seven of their last 10 encounters – although they did manage to take 11 points from those.

The Os have kept seven clean sheets on their 10 visits to Stevenage, winning six times and claiming 20 points in total.

Richie Wellens' men have lost their past three on the road but a win today could haul them up four places.

Grimsby are without George McEachran and Kieran Green today so in come Callum Ainley and Curtis Thompson.

Jason Svanthorsson drops to the bench with Jayden Luker in the starting line-up.

Colchester are missing their captain Tom Flanagan and he's replaced by Ben Goodliffe.

Samson Tovide comes in alongside Lyle Taylor up front and Owura Edwards starts with Jack Payne and JK Gordon among the substitutes.

  7. Artell the artist of a Grimsby revival?published at 12:20 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

Grimsby Town v Colchester United (12:30 GMT)

The early pictures from Blundell Park this morning weren't particularly encouraging - the floodlights were on while the groundstaff worked on a heavy pitch but a quick inspection by referee Martin Woods means we're good to go.

The grey skies don't match the feelings of those with Grimsby interests.

Currently seventh in the table they're playing some attractive stuff under Dave Artell albeit it's a case a feast or famine with just the one draw from their 16 league games.

All that is after a few years of struggle, a second relegation to the National League, a swift return and time spent establishing themselves back in the EFL.

With Danny Rose among the goals and signing a new contract the Mariners look well set for a decent season.

That, again, is not the case at Colchester United where another season of struggle is already unfolding.

A complete squad rebuild under Danny Cowley has so far produced only two victories although eight draws makes them the division's stalemate specialists.

Injury time equalisers against Barrow and Bradford have kept their heads above water but they could finish the day in the relegation zone which was not part of the plan when Cowley was appointed in January and kept them up last season.

  8. Magpies hope to continue good home form and bounce back from defeatpublished at 12:17 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

Notts County v Newport (12:30 GMT)

    Stuart MaynardImage source, Rex Features

Notts County go into today’s game on the back of their third defeat of the season after they lost 2-0 at promotion rivals Crewe last Saturday. That was their first loss in six league games.

The Magpies will be looking to continue their good form at home having won each of their last two home league games 1-0 and will be looking to win three on home soil in succession without conceding in the English Football League since March 2012.

Stuart Maynard’s side won both of their league games against Newport last season, scoring three goals in both of those victories.

Newport just can not get a run going having just the one win in their last seven league games.

They head to Meadow Lane today losing 10 out of 12 games on the road and scoring just nine goals in total across that time whilst conceding 23 at the other end.
