The Championship rejoins the EFL party this weekend with Plymouth claiming a late point against Watford last night to kick-off the action.

As ever there's plenty of intrigue in leagues one and two and we've picked out some of the highlights here.

  3. A first meeting in 21 yearspublished at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Wrexham v Exeter (15:00 GMT)

    Wrexham's stadiumImage source, Rex Features

This is a first EFL meeting between these two sides since March 2003 when Exeter were 1-0 winners in Devon.

The last meeting in Wales ended in a 4-0 win for Wrexham and the Welshmen are having just as good a time of it at home this season.

No-one has more home points in League One than Wrexham this season with 19 points accrued from seven games and no defeats.

But it is just one win from four League One games for Phil Parkinson's side and they looked a pretty lifeless bunch in going down 1-0 at Stockport last weekend.

Exeter are winless from their past eight trips to Wrexham but we're talking about ancient world history in the footballing circles.

Gary Caldwell's team have been solid enough on the road with three wins and three defeats and they're unbeaten in their last four in all competitions.

This will be a good test for the respective sides' ambitions this campaign.

  4. County Ground set for battle at the bottompublished at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Swindon v Morecambe (15:00 GMT)

It’ll be a basement battle at the County Ground as Swindon, who are just one point above the relegation zone, host bottom of the table Morecambe.

Swindon have won just one of their last 10 league games (D4 L5), while the Robins have both scored and conceded in each of their last six in League Two. They have only tasted victory once at the County Ground so far this season.

We all know Halloween is well and truly behind us but Swindon manager Ian Holloway claimed that his side’s poor form could be down to being that their training ground is haunted.

Holloway, who is searching for his first league win as Swindon boss said there were "some strange things happening" after Robins captain Ollie Clarke ruptured a tendon in his ankle during training.

A more positive omen for the Robins is that they are unbeaten across their prior nine league meetings with Morecambe (W6 D3), though both matches during last season finished in draws.

Morecambe are winless across their prior five away league games against Swindon (D2 L3) but have won two of their last three away league games losing the other one.

Seven of their 10 points have come away from home this term and victory in Wiltshire would move them level on points with Swindon.

  5. Evans aiming to stop rot on old stomping groundpublished at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Crawley v Rotherham (15:00 GMT)

The first meeting of these sides in nearly 11 years is an intriguing one and promises to be a real clash of styles.

Steve Evans take the Millers back to his old club having seen his side lose three of their past four games and their past five in a row against newly-promoted sides, their worst such run in nearly three decades.

Rotherham will be aware that Crawley have conceded a dozen goals from set pieces, more than any other side in League One, though things are starting to come together under Rob Elliot, with three games unbeaten.

Crawley might still be fourth-bottom and in the drop zone but they average 60% possession and have completed more than 6,300 passes, second only to Birmingham in the division on both counts.

By contrast Rotherham, only four points and four places higher, average just 46% of the ball and have the third lowest passes completed in the third tier with almost exactly half of Crawley’s total.

  6. Leaders looking to end Lincoln runpublished at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Lincoln v Wycombe (15:00 GMT)

Leaders Wycombe head to sixth-placed Lincoln for a real test of their title credentials.

Wanderers have won 10 of their opening 14 games, something they have never done before, and average 2.3 goals per game, by far the best in the division.

Lincoln is one of the hardest away games in the third tier, Michael Skubala’s Imps have taken 13 points from their past six at home, with Birmingham the only side to take all three points.

They also have a fine record against Matt Bloomfield’s men, going unbeaten in their past five encounters and winning this fixture 3-0 last season.

Wycombe have failed to score in six of their past eight visits to Sincil Bank, winning only one of them, and will need to be wary against a side who complete the fewest passes and enjoy least possession in the division – it’s little surprise half of their goals have come from set-pieces this term, the most in the third tier.

Gareth Ainsworth has steered Shrewsbury off the bottom after just one game in charge, humbling Birmingham at the Meadow.

Burton now need to beat Stockport at the Pirelli if they are to follow suit this afternoon.

Leyton Orient move up a place after their stalemate at Stevenage though could yet be in the relegation zone tonight if Wigan and Crawley are able to pick up wins.

    FT: Bolton 2-1 Blackpool

    Steve Thompson
BBC Radio Lancashire summariser & former Blackpool assistant manager

You simply cannot give people like Thomason that sort of space, someone has to close him for that first goal.

Blackpool were in control in that first half, Embleton and Joseph looked dangerous but then it changed at half time.

As the game was going on two or three times on the counter attack Bolton looked dangerous and as we pushed for a winner we committed so many men forward.

  12. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Shrewsbury 3-2 Birmingham

After a dozen additional minutes are up it's a glorious start for Gareth Ainsworth and Shrewsbury are off the bottom while Birmingham lose ground at then top.

Salop are back to winning ways after six straight losses in all competitions while Blues are beaten for the first time in eight games.

Aaron Pierre, John Marquis and Tom Bloxham got the goals while Tomoki Iwata's goal and Jay Stansfield's penalty on 76 minutes were mere consolations.

Wycombe, Wrexham and Burton... over to you!

  13. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Grimsby 0-1 Colchester

Colchester end an eight game run without a league win.

John-Kymani Gordon's first goal for the Essex club barely one minute after coming on as a substitute is what separates the sides and the visitors are probably just about worth all three points.

Harry Anderson and Samson Tovide both had efforts saved in the first period before Anderson had a second-half goal chalked-off for offside.

Callum Ainley was denied by Colchester goalkeeper Matt Macey in the first-half but the U's custodian came up with an even bigger save in the fourth minute of injury time to secure the win.

It's a fourth successive home defeat for Grimsby for the first time since January 2018 and the first time they've lost four on the bounce against Colchester since 1980.

  14. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:27 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Bolton 2-1 Blackpool

A late goal from Aaron Collins gets Bolton the points in a bad tempered affair.

Kyle Joseph's first-half header gave Blackpool a half-time lead but captain George Thomason provoked a Bolton fightback in the second period.

Returning from an injury lay-off the home skipper smashed in an unstoppable leveller and then supplied a cross from which Collins hit the bar.

But the Welsh striker wasn't to be denied and supplied a cool finish in the 94th minute to extend Bolton's unbeaten home record to five games.

It's now eight games without a win for Blackpool who are too close to the drop zone for comfort.

  15. GREAT SAVE!published at 14:26 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    No goals at Meadow Lane.

Notts County had the better of things and did press for a goal after the break, but Newport defended well to pick up hard earned point on the road.

The Magpies are undefeated in their last three home games now while it's back-to-back draws for the Exiles.

  18. goal

GOAL Bolton 2-1 Blackpoolpublished at 14:24 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Aaron Collins (90+4 mins)

    The winner?

He's hit the bar, he's had an effort saved but Aaron Collins keeps trying and he has the go-ahead goal as Bolton lead Blackpool deep into stoppage time.

The Welshman controls on the edge of the box before thrashing a left foot effort past Richard O'Donnell.
