Logan Chalmers sent Partick Thistle on their way to victory
First-half goals from Logan Chalmers and Luke McBeth earned play-off chasing Partick Thistle a hard-fought victory over Ayr United in the Scottish Championship.
Chalmers lashed home a left-footed effort from just inside the box to give Thistle the lead, before an excellent strike from McBeth eight minutes later put them in total control.
Ayr never truly threatened a comeback and drop to third in the table after Falkirk beat Queen's Park 4-0 and Livingston drew 3-3 at Airdrieonians.
The result strengthens Thistle's grip on the final play-off spot - they lead fifth-placed Morton by seven points having played a game more.
