Kyra Cooney-Cross adds something little different to this Arsenal side. She is a really good dribbler with the ball. She can get forward a little bit more than Kim Little with a bit more pace.

Arsenal now have a squad where when Plan A is not working, they can bring on players like Cooney-Cross and Stina Blackstenius.

This is concerning for Maelys Mpome, who takes a ball to the face.

Her team-mates and physios rush straight over the French defender, and then the paramedics arrive with the stretcher.

Risky play from Chiamaka Nnadozie, who rushes off her line to clear the ball and she just about gets there before Alessia Russo.

That could have ended very badly for the Brighton keeper.

That's a really important save from Daphne van Domselaar.

Brighton have been really in it in this second half. Carla Camacho has her head in her hands there because she was expecting that to go in.

That's a superb save from Daphne van Domselaar. She has been criticised this season, but that is brilliant as she dives across her goal to stop Carla Camacho's header.

Brighton are sitting behind the ball but Arsenal have passed it so slow. There's not really much movement at all. Arsenal need to be dictating this - pass and move!

If it's not working on one side, switch it to the other side. They are not really affecting Brighton at all right now.

Bodies on the line for Brighton to deny Olivia Smith and then Frida Maanum as a corner turns into a scramble in the box.

Brighton have settled back into the game and they're looking a but more dangerous, although Carla Camacho will need to do better than that. An easy save for Daphne van Domselaar.

Katie McCabe has a pop from outside the Brighton box but it's an easy catch for Chiamaka Nnadozie.

While it is good that Arsenal are playing all their home WSL games at Emirates Stadium, it is a lower attendance today than they may have hoped for during a men's international break.

The lower tier is two-thirds full, the middle section has a smattering of fans and the upper stands are empty.

And the atmosphere has been quiet, in keeping with Arsenal's performance.

I really rate Caitlin Foord. She is such a difficult player to come up against. She wants the ball al the time and she is so good with her feet on the left-hand side and can cut in on her right foot. She is always willing to create something for Arsenal.

Arsenal have started this half in the same way that they started the first. They're looking very lively, but will that energy fade like it did in the first half?

Hmm, that's a questionable corner routine. Mariona Caldentey plays the ball low and hard into the front post and it's cleared for another corner.

She does the same on the next one, but this time the ball flies straight out of play.

The first 15, 20 minutes until the goal, took us a little bit to settle. We looked a little bit nervous out there but once we settled in we were really good and controlled a lot of moments and created a lot of chances and maybe unfortunate to go in 1-0 down.

We want to be more brave [in the second half] but it's been a great game so far and I'm looking forward to the next half.

Good composure from Katie Reid, who was at risk of being stranded there as Brighton broke forward.

She steals the ball back before turning and sending Arsenal back up the pitch.

Arsenal were really front-footed. The intensity of their play was really good and much improved. They created a few chances down the left hand-side with the combination of McCabe and Foord but it's when they get into the box, they need to be a little bit better.

They haven't quite put it to bed.

I have been informed at the stadium that the Arsenal opener will go down for Olivia Smith, rather than as an own goal.

Hefty deflection or not, it is Smith's second WSL goal since joining the Gunners for £1 million in the summer.
