Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor speaking after her side's 1-0 win against Tottenham: "Every game is tough in this league, but I would say this game was tough because we weren't able to score more goals.

"I think we had a good performance in terms of in-possession of the ball, we created a lot of opportunities and touches in the box.

"We dominated the game. We were also really good out of possession and the way we defended the game. Spurs didn't create a lot.

"But it took us quite a long time to score, we had to score with a shot from distance.

"Some credit to Spurs, they defended the box really well. Sometimes maybe we need to work on our positions in the box. Having the desire to be the first player to touch the ball. These things will come together with confidence, we are working on it. Hopefully soon we will be more clinical, because that's the most important thing in football."

Everton

Everton manager Brian Sorensen speaking to BBC Sport: "The girls did everything they could. Key moments let us down. We would like to have played the second half as we did the first half.

"They got back into the game. We ran out of legs, their substitutes are very good.

"Overall, I'm disappointed but that's also where we're at at the minute. Against the top teams we need to get everything right and if we don't, it's going to be tough.

"We're a new team with a lot of signings and we're still finding out the players, how do we get them in the right positions, and understanding what we can do. In this league, it takes everyone a year to settle and adapt when you're a young player and we have a lot of those.

"I'm not worried. I think the foundation is there. We just have to keep working and building."

On the crowd at the Hill Dickinson Stadium: "Nice to see so many fans and we could hear them. We're disappointed not to put on a better show [for the whole game] but that's where we're at with a lot of young players, the youngest starting XI in the league. It will take time."

Manchester United

Manchester United manager Marc Skinner speaking to BBC Sport: "I felt that it could have been three in the first 20 minutes. We should've been more ruthless. Then it would've felt as controlled as the whole game was for us.

"We had a lot of control and should have been up in the first half. We were calm at half time and came out and dominated the second half.

"I was quite relaxed at half-time. I just said we are creating, we are playing well, we just need to tidy the details. Those details will open up Everton but we're snatching at the final opportunity. I just asked for more in the detail and they gave that in the second half."

On Melvine Malard: "Her communication levels have increased because she understands English [better] and when she understands, it's really easy to communicate to her. She's got the quality. She can play right, play left, play central, and hopefully we can supply her with more opportunities for goals."

On the crowd: "It's a beautiful stadium and congratulations to Everton on creating that. Hopefully that can come through at Goodison. To see those scenes and an historic club like Everton do that is positive for the game."

Brighton grew into that first half. The initial first 10, 15 minutes or so, Arsenal were dominating possession and Brighton seemed to be getting it and giving it straight back but as the half went on, they got a little bit higher up and started winning the ball.

They pressed Arsenal high and looked a lot more dangerous so hopefully for Brighton they'll be able to bring that into the second one.

London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses manager Jocelyn Precheur speaking to club media: "About the result, I'm completely satisfied. I think that it's almost never happened - a promoted team earning nine points after six games. It's good for us. It proves we're in the WSL for a good reason.

"[There are] things I would like us to improve. I'm more satisfied about the first half [performance]."

On playing at home: "Last time the fans pushed us very well to try to score. Today, to protect our goal and save the result. If they are not there, it's not the same result. Playing at home is a real advantage."

On Kosovare Asllani: "I'm happy for her because she made a lot of work defensively."

West Ham United

West Ham manager Rehanne Skinner on Kinga Szemik's mistake which led to London City's winner: "People make mistakes and ultimately it’s difficult for players in these moments.

"The most important thing is what she does next and we’ll be there for her. She’ll be beating herself up but these things happen and there were mistakes all over the game. We can go again."

While it's half-time at the Emirates, let's get some reaction to our 12pm kick-offs.

Katie Reid gets stuck and caught out of position. Seike had an option to the left hand-side but if she scores that you say it was the right choice.

Kiko Seike had options but she goes alone, taking aim from the edge of the box. Her strike has the right kind of power on it, but it's straight at Daphne van Domselaar.

And that will be the last bit of first-half action.

Arsenal lead but Brighton will definitely feel they can get something from this game.

A groan from the Arsenal fans as Emily Fox, trying to do too much on the edge of Brighton's box sloppily gives the ball away and the Gunners' attack fizzles out.

Carla Camacho's first touch lets her down again as she receives the ball on the edge of the Arsenal box, but she gets another chance and chests the ball down brilliantly before turning and getting her shot away. It wasn't far off.

Emma Smith

Daphne van Domselaar, under pressure after recent performances, has had a mixed game today.

She has made a couple of decent stops, including with her leg from Riko Seike a few minutes ago.

But she has looked shaky under the aerial ball, including a flap at the resulting corner following the Seike save. She needed Alessia Russo to bail her out.

Until Arsenal get a second goal, no-one in red - or van Domselaar's yellow - will feel comfortable today.

Ouch. The ball is smashed into Katie McCabe's face and the Irish defender falls to the floor before the Arsenal physios rush out.

She's not down for long, though, and is fine to continue.

You can hear Dario Vidosic yelling constantly to his team from the sidelines. "Stay connected" is the latest instruction from the Brighton boss.

We started the game with a good tempo, moving the ball quickly and the goal settled any nerves. The momentum's shifted a little bit and we've let them back into the game. We need to start moving the ball quicker again.

I love working with Liv [Smith]. She's very positive and she has really good one-v-one intent and good speed to get at defenders so hopefully we can get the ball out to her more and let her dictate the game.

Fran Kirby plays a lovely dinked ball to Kiko Seike, who takes perhaps one touch too many and closes down the angle.

She wins a corner for her efforts, though, and Alessia Russo has to head away the dangerous delivery on the goalline.

When Arsenal are playing out from the back, you're looking at Fran Kirby and her leadership. She's telling other players 'no hold it's not your player to go to' and it's just that organisation because you can't press for 90 minutes.

In those moments it's important to know what player you're going up to and she plays her role so well.

Alessia Russo didn't time that run quite right and the offside flag is quickly raised.

Arsenal haven't properly threatened since Marisa Olislagers' own goal.

After that earlier fracas over a throw-in, Katie McCabe gets one in her favour after the Brighton keeper boots the ball out of play.

McCabe made a big show of asking the assistant if the throw in was actually hers, clearly unhappy about the earlier call.

The Arsenal fans, obviously on their player's side, sing McCabe's name.
