And I see this live text missed the big signing of the day. Shame on all my colleagues.

Oxford United signed Bulgaria forward Filip Krastev on a season-long loan from Belgian side Lommel earlier on.

The 23-year-old spent last season in the Eredivisie at PEC Zwolle and has previously played for MLS outfit Los Angeles FC.

    Thanks Charlotte.

    I come with breaking news.

Oxford United captain Elliott Moore has left the club by mutual agreement. The 28-year-old centre-back played 242 times for the club.

Time for Emlyn Begley to bring us home.

On Harvey Elliott's possible loan move to Aston Villa:

I think it's a great move for both. He needs to play football and he needs that opportunity to showcase what he can do. The biggest question with him is, what's his best position?

We were out covering the England U21s in the summer and he played off the left, he played off the right, he played in midfield, that is the versatility that Unai Emery is buying.

But there is an element where Elliott needs to pin down a position and make sure that he is a regular in that position.

It's an interesting one with Emi Martinez. Is it a case of getting him off the wages? Is that what Villa are trying to do for PSR reasons? Is it that they feel he's had a drop off form and they need someone young to move forward again.

Or, is it a case that he wants to try something new and I think that's going to be so interesting because if he doesn't get the move, where does that leave him?

Bristol Rovers have signed midfielder Joel Cotterill on a season-long loan from Championship side Swansea City.

The Wales under-21 international becomes Rovers' eleventh signing of the summer window.

Cotterill has also signed a contract extension at Swansea, tying him down to the club until the summer of 2027.

"I’m buzzing to get the deal over the line and get it done. I’m just ready to hit the ground running now," Cotterill told Bristol Rovers' club website.

  10. 'It's a fine balance'published at 17:53 British Summer Time 1 September

    Stephen Warnock

On Isak and others in similar situations being seen as a bad influence or likely to throw their toys out of the pram again when an even bigger club comes in:

If you are talking about Isak, you are not going much bigger than Liverpool. So he just knows that he had to push himself to get to Liverpool.

There will be other incidences of it but again I go back to the point of when a club doesn't want you, they are quite happy to push you out and make sure you get out of the club in one way or another.

Those situations aren't made public very often because a player can't be seen to be moaning about the football club. If you're on the scrap heap, you need to get a move yourself, and you need that good publicity around you. That you're a good egg and a good professional to go into another team. It's a fine balance.

Whether you like it or not, Alexander Isak thinks going to Liverpool is the perfect move for him.

Liverpool want to win the Champions League and the Premier League.

This is a moment for Isak that he might not get again. So, he has to do everything he can to push this move through.

Ultimately, he has got what he wanted.

The best deal Palace could do right now would be to keep Marc Guehi... which would not only help the team but, as importantly, help keep Glasner, at least until the end of the season.

    Dave

We’re letting Guehi go without having a replacement signed up? Good grief!

More on Marc Guehi's proposed switch to Liverpool has come from The Athletic's David Ornstein.

The move is in jeopardy as Crystal Palace struggle to find an adequate replacement. Oliver Glasner and Guehi are talking to make the final decision.

    Stay tuned.

    On players forcing a move...

I mean a lot of people are seeing this as a one-way route.

When a club is not wanting a player they will push them into the reserves, they will make life difficult for them. They will make them train separately from people.

There is different ways of looking at this...

With the way Alexander Isak and Yoane Wissa have gone about their business it has been made very public with how they stepped away from the training ground.

There is something behind the scenes that has gone on.

Can honestly say I've never used a fax machine in my life. Sorry.

  17. Is a fax machine still used in football transfers?published at 17:43 British Summer Time 1 September

BBC Sport's Ask Me Anything team has been answering some of the key questions around the transfer window...

Is a fax machine still used in football transfers?

There is one piece of technology that is synonymous with drama of transfer deadline day - the modest fax machine.

A staple of offices in the 1980s and 90s, the telecommunication device was used to send scanned documents over a telephone line to another machine.

It was also the go-to method of transferring documents in the world of football, with transfers often hinging on files being sent just before the deadline.

But the piece of technology has now been phased out, with clubs sending digital faxes or scanned documents via email instead.

Notoriously in 2015, David de Gea's move from Manchester United to Real Madrid reportedly collapsed due to technical issues with United's fax machine.

Adding Hincapie to a squad which only lost to a near full strength Liverpool at Anfield thanks to a worldy despite having 5/6 first team players injured/not fit enough to start and still having a strong bench. If you're still complaining you play too many video games. Very efficient window.

  19. DONE DEAL: Blades bring in Ogbene from Ipswichpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 1 September

Struggling Championship side Sheffield United have made their second addition of the day.

The Blades, who have lost all four of their league games this season, have signed Ipswich Town forward Chiedozie Ogbene on a season-long loan deal.

The 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international made three appearances for the Blues this season after missing most of the last campaign with a serious Achilles injury.

Ruben Selles' men added Chelsea midfielder Alex Matos for an undisclosed fee earlier today.

Of course, as long as all the relevant paperwork is complete before the 19:00 BST deadline then there's no need to make an official announcement tonight.

Some clubs may even decide to wait until the morning.
